Steven is the best. We have worked with him on three projects in the past few years. The first was stepping in the middle of the renovation of an older home (providing a range of design services, including creative furniture placement, custom draperies and window shutters, built in cabinets, accessories, furniture, rugs, paint color choices, and more.) We all were so pleased we asked him to decorate and assist in furnishing our mountain home out of state. He is now planning a remodel of my aging parent's home and helping to downsize the home place and design and decorate it for ease of mobility and aging needs. When I decided to redecorate and update a few rooms I immediately thought of Steven Ford. I have been an admirer of this highly regarded designer for many years. He is well known for his outgoing personality, exceptional listening and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail and extraordinary designs. I have worked with him in the past and was delighted that he would be available for my new project. This time we were tackling a home office, a guest room, and a few updates to the formal living room and master bedroom. He quickly developed a plan and timeline. His estimates were accurate and right in line with my budget. He and his outstanding team of professions kept in close touch as we moved along and were always available and up to date on every aspect of the work. I conveyed to Steven that over the years the home office had taken on the look of a command module with its two-tiered semicircle desk and high tech equipment that covered half the room. The rest of the space was cluttered with file cabinets, memorabilia, books, plaques and awards. I was concerned that these items would become damaged over time. I envisioned an organized, beautiful and peaceful place in which to spend time. Although I was familiar with Steven’s miraculous transformation of rooms, I was still amazed how he made this workplace not only functional and comfortable but a place where high tech and beauty were in complete harmony. It is an absolute pleasure now to spend time in this lovely and relaxing space. The command module was replaced with an elegant desk with the electronics discreetly in the background.. The addition of a Palisade Display Cabinet was stunning lit up at night and a perfect solution for displaying and protecting selected books and memorabilia. My children were pleased that Steven dedicated a special shelf for their Dad’s parachute knife and 1963 XKE Jaguar steering wheel. The pilot’s helmet was promoted to a more prominent place on top of the cabinet. Steven has superb taste in art and brought in a painting of an "Abstract Forest" to hang on the wall across from the new reading nook. All who have seen it have been intrigued with this enchanting and mystical forest. The guest bedroom was a collection of leftovers from a previous decorating project. It was comfortable and presentable but had no character. It was begging for a complete makeover. Steven made this nondescript room into a spectacular retreat with the selections of window treatments, art, bedding, wall colors, headboard, furnishings and accessories. My overnight guests have commented on how much they enjoyed this luxurious and tranquil setting and never fail to mention the exquisite shadow box Steven designed to showcase our collection of coral. Without a doubt, my positive experiences with Steven Ford Interiors have put me in the books as another one of their lifetime of clients.

Transformative--our lives and space! Steven Ford completely changed our bathroom from chaos to order by reconfiguring the footprint, adding unique features, and blending the 1930s style of our house with contemporary functionality and elegance. Everything Steven Ford designs exceeds expectations!!

We operate a large sorority house in the Greek Village at USC. Steven Ford Interiors helped us to choose quality furniture and accessories when we opened our house. A couple of years ago Steven worked with us to complete a major re-decorate taking our public spaces from a very traditional look to a fresh contemporary look. By recovering some of our existing pieces, we were able to incorporate them into our new contemporary design. Our collegians, parents, and alumnae all find the space comfortable and inviting, but still a little elegant. Surprisingly, our girls' dads have been most vocal about how comfortable they feel in the space. All of the staff at Steven Ford Interiors are very courteous and helpful. We always enjoy working with them.

Steven has transformed several of the rooms in my house. I would not begin a remodeling or sprucing project without him! He tailors each project to the individual client's taste, life-style and budget. Stephen Ford Interiors did the design work and materials selection for a major ground floor remodeling project at Shoreham Towers I, a boutique condominium, located in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. When contacted, Steven and his staff was given the task of designing the remodel with the intent of a major face lift for this twenty five year old building. While our budget did not allow for a Park Avenue level of remodel we did suggest we wanted to "Kick it up a Notch". With his excellent design skills and knowledge of how to combine quality materials at a reasonable cost we did get the Park Avenue effect. From the selection of Italian tile for the entrance portico that flowed through the lobby and walkways to the pool area, bathrooms, and walls; To the recommendation of paint colors, lighting fixtures, furniture, art work appropriate for such a project, to even include the selection of bathroom fixtures, I find that Stephen Ford Interiors and his staff could tackle about any project his organization wished to take on. Our homes are our most personal spaces, reflections of who we are and what is important to us. They express the most delicate nuances of our imagination. They are where our families and guests interact and build the bonds that shape our lives and strengthen our relationships. Steven Ford understands these things and he expresses them masterfully in his art. He knows we are grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, uncles, aunts, etc., and sometimes, like Sandra and me, people who own crazy pointers. Steven knows we love beautiful things and that we lead real lives, that we want our houses to elegant and functional. When I think of the work Steven did in my in-laws’ house and condominium in West Columbia, I see a chorus of imagination: colors, lines, groupings, shapes, textures, tones, weights, scale, and light thoughtfully balancing the traditional with the modern, the aesthetic with the practical. I think of Christmas decorations Steven and my mother-in-law put up and I saw as I walked in the foyer of the home on Mohawk in West Columbia, decorations that visually expressed the most joyous holiday hopes of the old world and new: charming relics interspersed with the holiday remembrances of a new family forged in 1950s and matured in Mohawk home in the 1970s and 80s, reminders of ancestors from eastern Europe, and from the little house in Beaufort, where grandparents raised exemplary South Carolinians who loved their neighbors as themselves, and bore an intelligently tolerant wave of new generations. When you walked in that foyer and saw the Christmas decorations you felt love. You felt the true joy of Christmas, the joy of Christmas in the South. After many years the home on Mohawk became a home at a condominium with balconies that looked over the Saluda toward the State House. In Steven’s artistic vision a handcrafted Korean blanket chest was a perfect complement for a towering pier mirror accented by a beautifully colored and delicate, locally blown glass vase. And the formal dining room was the perfect venue for a 50th wedding anniversary celebration with stunning floral arrangements, elegant servings, and superb food, all masterfully coordinated by Steven, and all while considering that my mother-in-law had started showing signs of her age and would feel poorly if things were not just right or created too much stress. He made the anniversary celebration magic for everyone. Family members of all ages filled, used, and admired the graceful elegance of the home Steven designed for my in-laws. Just as importantly, Steven made the celebration especially magic for my mother-in-law, showing the patience, kindness, and grace of a southern gentleman, demonstrating that if you love what you do and you consider for whom you are doing it with your heart, expressing an artistic vision can be more than just materials, flash, and color. My in-laws have now both moved to apartments at Still Hopes in West Columbia, apartments that again reflect Steven’s mastery of his art. Everything in the apartments is just right—ask the residents and visitors who happen by, wanting to peek in, having heard about “how nice” they are. The scale, colors, and balance are perfect. The chair that has just the right frame and the table surface that is just the right height for those of us who are less nimble, again express Steven’s love for his art, and his consideration for those for whom he is expressing it. We have worked with Steven on many other projects, ranging from decorating my father-in-law’s condominium for a holiday open house to picking drapes for our townhouse in Alexandria, Virginia. We have always loved the result. Steven is honest and fair to a fault. He will be the first to tell you if something will not work, or the best way to make something work. You will always get the best from Steven because he is the best.
