Inredning av ett lantligt vit vitt kök, med släta luckor, gröna skåp, mörkt trägolv och brunt golv

In our latest Kitchen ‘stories’ series, we share the journey behind the transformation of this
Somerset farmhouse.
This was a complete renovation project in the true sense of the word, involving both the vision of the owner and one of David Salisbury’s most experienced designers. The period property had an existing kitchen which was simply too small and clearly not suitable for a busy family, with a fondness for entertaining.
The masterstroke was the decision to relocate the kitchen to what was the former living room and open up the property with a glazed extension, instantly adding in light-bathed space and creating the all-important connection to the garden.
The idea to position the kitchen in a new, purpose-built space provided the opportunity to start with a blank canvas: a kitchen designer’s dream!
Planning the new kitchen without the constraints of services, such as existing electrics and plumbing, meant we could set about creating a space that was truly tailored to our client.
First of all this meant really understanding the home owner and listening to how this busy family lived their lives at home – very socially was the answer!
With a substantial new space to work with, we designed a large island to form the centrepiece of the new kitchen, along with an informal entertaining space with comfy bar stools.
Having considered a number of different cooking options, our client chose an Everhot range cooker, having visited our showroom in Chelsea to see the existing display and get a better understanding of their reputation for energy efficiency and contemporary cooking functionality. The soft grey tone of the Everhot (Dove Grey) not only acted as a strong focal point, but a warming source of heat for the family (and dog!) to snuggle around.
The striking choice of paint finish, ‘Drammen’ from David Salisbury’s unique palette, accentuates the quality of the joinery and is the perfect pairing with our solid oak carcasses – we could look at this eye-catching combination all day!
The mix of busy family and social life meant choice of refrigeration was important to get right. The French door fridge freezer from Fisher & Paykel not only maximised storage, it also included a built-in ice maker, a must-have for hosting informal drinks or a weekend night in. Plenty of flexible space for larder essentials was provided by the bespoke pantry cupboard, situated alongside the fridge, with bottle and spice racks and even a cold shelf in matching quartz.
Introducing a bench seat under the window allowed a seamless continuation of the kitchen cabinetry and another great space to bring family and guests together, when cooking and entertaining. Safe to say, it’s now the favourite space for Orla (the family’s dog) to take in the views of the garden!
Whilst last, but by no means least, the final feature of the kitchen, was a bespoke media unit with bi-fold doors to conceal the TV, which doubled up as a drinks cabinet with integrated wine cooler.
Designed from scratch, the new kitchen for this Somerset farmhouse is a combination of timeless design and modern luxury. Being able to cook for and entertain family and guests, in the same space at the same time, meant the final design was perfectly done!

This image features the main reception room, designed to exude a sense of formal elegance while providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The room’s interior design is a testament to the intent of the company to blend classic elements with contemporary style.
At the heart of the room is a traditional black marble fireplace, which anchors the space and adds a sense of grandeur. Flanking the fireplace are built-in shelving units painted in a soft grey, displaying a curated selection of decorative items and books that add a personal touch to the room. The shelves are also efficiently utilized with a discreetly integrated television, ensuring that functionality accompanies the room's aesthetics.
Above, a dramatic modern chandelier with cascading white elements draws the eye upward to the detailed crown molding, highlighting the room’s high ceilings and the architectural beauty of the space. Luxurious white sofas offer ample seating, their clean lines and plush cushions inviting guests to relax. Accent armchairs with a bold geometric pattern introduce a dynamic contrast to the room, while a marble coffee table centers the seating area with its organic shape and material.
The soft neutral color palette is enriched with textured throw pillows, and a large area rug in a light hue defines the seating area and adds a layer of warmth over the herringbone wood flooring. Draped curtains frame the window, softening the natural light that enhances the room’s airy feel.
This reception room reflects the company’s design philosophy of creating spaces that are timeless and refined, yet functional and welcoming, showcasing a commitment to craftsmanship, detail, and harmonious design.

Bright, open and airy
Knocking through a few rooms to create a large open-plan area, the owners of this sleek kitchen wanted to create a free, fluid space that made the kitchen the unequivocal hub of the home whilst at the same time stylistically linking to the rest of the property.
We were tasked with creating a large open-plan kitchen and dining area that also leads through to a cosy snug, ideal for relaxing after a hard afternoon over the Aga!! The owners gave us creative control in the space, so with a loose rein and a clear head we fashioned a faultless kitchen complete with a large central island, a sunken sink and Quooker tap.
For optimum storage (and a dash of style) we built a number of large larders, one of which cleverly conceals a television, as well as a false chimney surround to frame the Aga and a bespoke drinks unit.
All the units are hand-crafted from Quebec Yellow Timber and hand-painted in Zoffany ‘Smoke’ and ‘Elephant Gray’ Walnut worktops, with Silestone ‘Lagoon’ Worktops around the outside and American Black Walnut on the island.

This unusually shaped kitchen in Blackheath has been completely refurbished. Clever design has been used to maximise functionality in the space available by including a waterfall island with a reduced side to mirror the shape of the room, tall units that reach right up to the ceiling and reduced depth cupboards on one of the walls. The beautifully sleek German black cabinets have been complimented with striking Dekton Trillium stone from Cosentino.

This beautiful master bathroom is situated in a Victorian townhouse in the heart of Notting Hill, London. The classic style and bold colour choices create a relaxing space with a unique style and elegance that is both classic and contemporary which was featured in the October 2014 issue of Homes & Gardens.
Drummond’s roll-top Spey cast iron bath in Salmon pink is the main feature of the room, with Drummonds’ brassware creating a warm, nostalgic feel. It has been left un-lacquered and un-polished to age naturally giving it a rich, golden colour and unique patina. The bath is drained through a Plunger waste unit based on a classic Victorian design.
Drummonds’ curved pipe Dalby shower and the WC are concealed in a custom-built enclosure in the back wall, behind a vintage art deco screen sourced from France. This beautiful piece is backlit, bathing the bath in a soft glow in the evening.
The soft shapes of Drummonds’ pop-up basin mixer taps with burnished walnut handles are paired with the contrasting contemporary cut of the square marble basin and square cornered cabinetry.

Our client loves cooking and needed lots of shelf space for his many cook books. The lower cupboards provide lots of additional storage for board games and seasonal decorations.

After our client completed their house renovation 5 years earlier, Fifth Season Landscapes were approached to design and build a new concrete swimming pool, outdoor entertaining area and reimagine the planting palette. The overarching brief was to immerse the pool and all built structures within the garden and continue the seamless flow between the interior and outdoor living spaces. Our clients comments sum it up for us “I love the tactile nature of our garden. Feeling the blackbutt timber decking boards under my bare feet and touching the cool polished concrete bbq benchtop and the Spanish limestone clad feature wall. There are elements of copper, timber and of course soft plantings that give an earthiness and natural feeling when you walk throughout the property.”
