Drewett WorksOwnby Designs commissioned a custom table from Peter Thomas Designs featuring a wood-slab top on acrylic legs, creating the illusion that it's floating. A pendant of glass balls from Hinkley Lighting is a key focal point.
A Douglas fir ceiling, along with limestone floors and walls, creates a visually calm interior.

ArtichokeArtichoke was asked to design a decorative solution for the bespoke kitchen and staircase in this Georgian villa. A veneered wall containing a pair of pocket sliding doors was designed in stained ash with black walnut let in to form the shadow gaps between panels. The dresser cabinet, containing crockery and glassware, is made from oak and stained to a Basalt colour to contrast with the wall panels behind. The door stiles are designed to follow the shape of the recessed handles.
The long side board is divided by an oak top with a bowl carved into it. The front edge of the honed marble is mitred with a vertical front of oak that supports it.
Primary materials: Painted cabinetry, stained ash and oak veneer, Nero Marquina marble.
ChangoThe walls of this formal dining room have all been paneled and painted a crisp white to set off the stark gray used on the upper part of the walls, above the paneling. Ceilings are coffered and a dramatic large pendant lamp is placed centered in the paneled ceiling. A silk light grey rug sits proud under a 12' wide custom dining table. Reclaimed wood planks from Canada and an industrial steel base harden the soft lines of the room and provide a bit of whimsy. Dining benches sit on one side of the table, and four leather and nail head studded chairs flank the other side. The table comfortably sits a party of 12.

InnovationLandThis Houston kitchen remodel turned an outdated bachelor pad into a contemporary dream fit for newlyweds.
The client wanted a contemporary, somewhat commercial look, but also something homey with a comfy, family feel. And they couldn't go too contemporary, since the style of the home is so traditional.
The clean, contemporary, white-black-and-grey color scheme is just the beginning of this transformation from the previous kitchen,
The revamped 20-by-15-foot kitchen and adjoining dining area also features new stainless steel appliances by Maytag, lighting and furnishings by Restoration Hardware and countertops in white Carrara marble and Absolute Black honed granite.
The paneled oak cabinets are now painted a crisp, bright white and finished off with polished nickel pulls. The center island is now a cool grey a few shades darker than the warm grey on the walls. On top of the grey on the new sheetrock, previously covered in a camel-colored textured paint, is Sherwin Williams' Faux Impressions sparkly "Striae Quartz Stone."
Ho-hum 12-inch ceramic floor tiles with a western motif border have been replaced with grey tile "planks" resembling distressed wood. An oak-paneled flush-mount light fixture has given way to recessed lights and barn pendant lamps in oil rubbed bronze from Restoration Hardware. And the section housing clunky upper and lower banks of cabinets between the kitchen an dining area now has a sleek counter-turned-table with custom-milled legs.
At first, the client wanted to open up that section altogether, but then realized they needed more counter space. The table - a continuation of the granite countertop - was the perfect solution. Plus, it offered space for extra seating.
The black, high-back and low-back bar stools are also from Restoration Hardware - as is the new round chandelier and the dining table over which it hangs.
Outdoor Homescapes of Houston also took out a wall between the kitchen and living room and remodeled the adjoining living room as well. A decorative cedar beam stained Minwax Jacobean now spans the ceiling where the wall once stood.
The oak paneling and stairway railings in the living room, meanwhile, also got a coat of white paint and new window treatments and light fixtures from Restoration Hardware. Staining the top handrailing with the same Jacobean dark stain, however, boosted the new contemporary look even more.
The outdoor living space also got a revamp, with a new patio ceiling also stained Jacobean and new outdoor furniture and outdoor area rug from Restoration Hardware. The furniture is from the Klismos collection, in weathered zinc, with Sunbrella fabric in the color "Smoke."
Brittany Stiles DesignThis dining area is part of a large great room that needed separation and maximum seating. We sourced this vintage farm table that can seat 10 people if necessary. The art wall is a collection of vintage, original, and reproduction art. Paris bistro chairs add textural interest and a laid back vibe to the space. Custom board and batten was added to the walls and tongue and groove was added to the ceiling. Both painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove. A grouping of vintage replica lighting is hung over the dining table. The barnwood flooring add texture and depth while being beach sand and dog friendly.

STEPHEN FLETCHER ARCHITECTSThe tapered staircase is formed of laminated oak and was supplied and installed by SMET, a Belgian company. It matches the parquet flooring, and sits elegantly in the space by the sliding doors.
Structural glass balustrades help maintain just the right balance of solidity, practicality and lightness of touch and allow the proportions of the rooms and front-to-rear views to dominate.
