Green Sheep CollectiveBoulevard House is an expansive, light filled home for a young family to grow into. It’s located on a steep site in Ivanhoe, Melbourne. The home takes advantage of a beautiful northern aspect, along with stunning views to trees along the Yarra River, and to the city beyond. Two east-west pavilions, linked by a central circulation core, use passive solar design principles to allow all rooms in the house to take advantage of north sun and cross ventilation, while creating private garden areas and allowing for beautiful views.
UpScapers - Authorized Vistafolia PartnerThey began the project by paving an area of the garden with naturally beautiful stone paving to form the floor of the seating area. Once all this was in place, it was our turn to help transform the area into a relaxing oasis for the client to enjoy with friends and family. Vistafolia® artificial living green wall panels were assembled to form lush green walls to work alongside the cedar panels. UV protected, our green panels are perfect for outdoor use as they are weatherproof and, will not fade in strong sunlight. As we take environmental responsibility very seriously, our green walls are completely recyclable as well as helping to save resources such as water and, reduce the use of pesticides.
The resulting effect was a modern yet sophisticated seating area, privacy protected and surrounded by vibrant greenery and set on a foundation of beautiful natural stone. The client was so pleased that he is already considering his next project in conjunction with Vistafolia®.

Z BuildersAn elegant, eco-luxurious 4,400 square foot smart residence. Atelier 216 is a five bedroom, four and a half bath home complete with an eco-smart saline swimming pool, pool house, two car garage/carport, and smart home technology. Featuring 2,500 square feet of decking and 16 foot vaulted ceilings with salvaged pine barn beams.
Broadway Design BuildModern front yard and exterior transformation of this ranch eichler in the Oakland Hills. The house was clad with horizontal cedar siding and painting a deep gray blue color with white trim. The landscape is mostly drought tolerant covered in extra large black slate gravel. Stamped concrete steps lead up to an oversized black front door. A redwood wall with inlay lighting serves to elegantly divide the space and provide lighting for the path.

Nosan Signature HomesThis home is inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House in Chicago and features large overhangs and a shallow sloped hip roof. The exterior features long pieces of Indiana split-faced limestone in varying heights and elongated norman brick with horizontal raked joints and vertical flush joints to further emphasize the linear theme. The courtyard features a combination of exposed aggregate and saw-cut concrete while the entry steps are porcelain tile. The siding and fascia are wire-brushed African mahogany with a smooth mahogany reveal between boards.
Vetter ArchitectsThe owners requested a Private Resort that catered to their love for entertaining friends and family, a place where 2 people would feel just as comfortable as 42. Located on the western edge of a Wisconsin lake, the site provides a range of natural ecosystems from forest to prairie to water, allowing the building to have a more complex relationship with the lake - not merely creating large unencumbered views in that direction. The gently sloping site to the lake is atypical in many ways to most lakeside lots - as its main trajectory is not directly to the lake views - allowing for focus to be pushed in other directions such as a courtyard and into a nearby forest.
The biggest challenge was accommodating the large scale gathering spaces, while not overwhelming the natural setting with a single massive structure. Our solution was found in breaking down the scale of the project into digestible pieces and organizing them in a Camp-like collection of elements:
- Main Lodge: Providing the proper entry to the Camp and a Mess Hall
- Bunk House: A communal sleeping area and social space.
- Party Barn: An entertainment facility that opens directly on to a swimming pool & outdoor room.
- Guest Cottages: A series of smaller guest quarters.
- Private Quarters: The owners private space that directly links to the Main Lodge.
These elements are joined by a series green roof connectors, that merge with the landscape and allow the out buildings to retain their own identity. This Camp feel was further magnified through the materiality - specifically the use of Doug Fir, creating a modern Northwoods setting that is warm and inviting. The use of local limestone and poured concrete walls ground the buildings to the sloping site and serve as a cradle for the wood volumes that rest gently on them. The connections between these materials provided an opportunity to add a delicate reading to the spaces and re-enforce the camp aesthetic.
The oscillation between large communal spaces and private, intimate zones is explored on the interior and in the outdoor rooms. From the large courtyard to the private balcony - accommodating a variety of opportunities to engage the landscape was at the heart of the concept.

Linc Thelen DesignThis couple purchased a second home as a respite from city living. Living primarily in downtown Chicago the couple desired a place to connect with nature. The home is located on 80 acres and is situated far back on a wooded lot with a pond, pool and a detached rec room. The home includes four bedrooms and one bunkroom along with five full baths.
The home was stripped down to the studs, a total gut. Linc modified the exterior and created a modern look by removing the balconies on the exterior, removing the roof overhang, adding vertical siding and painting the structure black. The garage was converted into a detached rec room and a new pool was added complete with outdoor shower, concrete pavers, ipe wood wall and a limestone surround.
The inspiration was based on capturing the natural beauty of the landscape where the house is situated. It’s on 80 acres and has a large pond. Materials were minimal to embody the surroundings. The design was based on connecting the outside and inside and connecting people together.
