Eric Reinholdt, ArchitectThe interior of the wharf cottage appears boat like and clad in tongue and groove Douglas fir. A small galley kitchen sits at the far end right. Nearby an open serving island, dining area and living area are all open to the soaring ceiling and custom fireplace.
The fireplace consists of a 12,000# monolith carved to received a custom gas fireplace element. The chimney is cantilevered from the ceiling. The structural steel columns seen supporting the building from the exterior are thin and light. This lightness is enhanced by the taught stainless steel tie rods spanning the space.

CM Natural DesignsThis space was designed for a fun and lively family of four. The furniture and fireplace were custom designed to hold up to the wear and tear of young kids while still being hip and modern for the parents who regularly host their friends and family. It is light, airy and timeless. Most items were selected from local, privately owned businesses and the mantel from an old reclaimed barn beam.

Jessica Helgerson Interior DesignThe clients wanted us to create a space that was open feeling, with lots of storage, room to entertain large groups, and a warm and sophisticated color palette. In response to this, we designed a layout in which the corridor is eliminated and the experience upon entering the space is open, inviting and more functional for cooking and entertaining. In contrast to the public spaces, the bedroom feels private and calm tucked behind a wall of built-in cabinetry.

Architecturally SpeakingIs it old or is it new!
For the entertainment center project we wanted to upgrade to a large screen TV and surround sound components in the family room of a 1930’s farmhouse but without altering the character of the vintage heavily paneled room. The room had a small impractical narrow and deep closet. The closet space, when extended would make for enough room for a large TV, component cabinet and a series of varying size drawers to accommodate CD’s, DVD’s, card games and most importantly a large volume storage for blankets and board games. Left over space above the pull out drawers and behind the TV would allow a person to enter and comfortably make the multitude of wiring connections needed for modern components initially and in the future.

ODS ArchitectureGoing up the Victorian front stair you enter Unit B at the second floor which opens to a flexible living space - previously there was no interior stair access to all floors so part of the task was to create a stairway that joined three floors together - so a sleek new stair tower was added.

Ann Lowengart InteriorsLocated in San Rafael's sunny Dominican neighborhood, this East Coast-style brown shingle needed an infusion of color and pattern for a young family. Against the white walls in the combined entry and living room, we mixed mid-century silhouettes with bold blue, orange, lemon, and magenta shades. The living area segues to the dining room, which features an abstract graphic patterned wall covering. Across the way, a bright open kitchen allows for ample food prep and dining space. Outside we painted the poolhouse ombre teal. On the interior, we echoed the same fun colors of the home.
