My partner Genny and I decided to hire Egon in October 2017 after seeing some of his projects on Houzz and being impressed by the style and colour combinations in his creations.
We were looking for an interior designer to guide us in space planning, decorating and furnishing an open plan living/dining area as well as our master bedroom. Moreover, we needed to add the finishing touches to the guest bedroom and the study in our house in Blackheath.
Over the past 14 months, Egon has proven to be an incredibly resourceful, creative and patient interior designer, always willing to listen to the ideas and discuss options with two admittedly quite demanding customers.
Above all, he has been outstanding in translating our desires into beautiful features of our house (from lamps to wallpaper, from furniture to paint shades, and on and on), some of which we didn't even know existed!
A five star interior designer, coming with our highest recommendation.

I have worked with Egon on a number of projects and found him very personable and easy to deal with. He has a good eye for detail and the colours he chooses and wallpaper choice fits extremely well with the age of the property and clients' expectations. He is always available to discuss changes and adapts well to the clients last minute changes. If you want an award winning designer who is a pleasure to deal with, then Egon is your designer.

We were contacted by Egon to quote for a large bespoke sliding door wardrobe with drawers for a period property in N6. He had a clear idea of what he wanted to achieve and was also happy to discuss and explore other design solutions. We found him very professional to work with. Various site preparation work was required before we could install and Egon had ensured this had been carried out before we arrived which helped to make the job run smoothly. Look forward to working together in the future.

Over a year ago bemused by the paint charts, I contacted Egon on the spur of the moment, to ask if he took on only big projects, or was he prepared to give just a bit of advice? And he was, so we met.
Egon soon dissipated my fear of being taken over by the kind of designer who might seek to use my house as a showpiece in which to display his or her own 'style'. Instead I discovered an empathetic and charming Irishman man whose approach is to observe, listen, respond, and then, though he may offer a few challenges or explain carefully why something might not work, come up with a solution that is pleasing and within a budget. His sensitivity to colours, fabric, furnishings and artworks display is exceptional, and, many 'bits of advice' later, I have learned much from his impeccable taste and gentle advice.
I can unreservedly recommend Egon Walesch as a designer - someone often described to me, and now by me as: 'just such a lovely man'. If he has a fault, it could be modesty: today he is also the television award-winning designer of Ireland's 'Home Of The Year'.

Egon is currently working with us to decorate our open plan kitchen living dining area and hall which is almost complete and we are delighted with the results. He has been a pleasure to work with. He has excellent taste and suggestions for what would work in a space. He listens to our opinions and is great to bounce ideas off - I haven't regretted following any of his advice, my only regrets were buying a few things without asking him first! Living in Ireland, it is great to have a designer working between Ireland and the UK as he has links to good suppliers in the UK. Although he isn't based here all of the time, it worked well with occasional visits and liaising mainly by email. Overall it has been a very positive experience and I wouldn't hesitate to work with Egon again or recommend him to a friend.

Egon designed, sourced and created everything for a dual-purpose workroom/sitting room.
He was thorough, imaginative, meticulous and best of all able to reconcile the ideas and 'needs' of two clients with very differing tastes with calmness and good humour.
Egon made a daunting prospect into an exciting experience.

Egon is an inspiring interior designer. We met whilst filming the Great Interior Design challenge in 2014 as I was assigned as his decorator for the shoot.
Egon is warm and engaging and has the ability to transform a space with his classical spin on a modern outlook? He is a pleasure to work with and makes one feel at ease and appreciated. He has impeccable attention to detail and a bold sense of style.
I have recently completed a refurbishment with him in Blackheath.
On this project Egon has created a magic that flows through the whole project with his choices of colours, furnishings and fittings, whilst complimenting the clients personality and tastes.
I hope that we will be able to work on future projects together.

Egon has helped us break the complete renovation of our house down into two phases. Stage one was mainly design advice - the results of which we were delighted with. We are now approaching the end of the second, more involved phase where Egon worked with us to pull together plans for an extension, working with us through the design phase, submitting the planning application on our behalf. He also secured various other permissions for us and provided us with guidance with what to consider when looking at quotes from builders - it was really helpful having someone to guide us through the bureaucracy of getting a larger scale project off the ground.
Since the build itself Egon has continued to provide invaluable design advice, helping to ensure that we are making the most of the space we have and that we are giving it the finishing touches it deserves!

Egon’s flair and expertise has really helped me to revitalise my home. He has patiently guided me through the design process, clarifying functions of the spaces and the options for refurbishment. He provided me with a mood board, fabric and paint samples, as well as lots of useful links for inspiration.
As well as helping to realise the potential of my home and adding value to it, Egon had great tips on sourcing and can get discounts on products to help save on "big ticket" items. The result is a beautiful contemporary space with character and style. I can wholeheartedly recommend Egon, not only for his creativity and attention to detail, but also for his relaxed and reassuring approach that made the whole process totally enjoyable.

We took a chance and signed up for the BBC's 'Great Interior Design Challenge' and were extremely lucky to have been paired up with Egon. We drafted a brief for a mid-century modern revamp for our lounge and under pressure for a 48 hour makeover Egon came up trumps with a design featuring a wall of Sanderson mobiles wallpaper, two tones of grey for the rest of the room and a layout that defined the space into living and dining areas, with room for cocktails! Egon sourced a number of gorgeous furniture pieces to complement the design. The format of the TV programme did not permit too much interaction with Egon and we were just so pleased with the result at the end. Our room was transformed from a white box into a relaxing, warm space.

Egon asked our practice to work on designing an extension to his home. His home is certainly a good place to experience the flow and extent of his design flare.
We were immediately struck by his use of colors in the house and how this enabled the travel through the rooms to become each like its own adventure. This accented by the attention to other details and the playful blending of surfaces and textures in the selection of wallpapers, paints and prints. These back drops were then always animated in small compositions with a range of interesting objects and beautiful flowers. Making the house a feast of exploration. Egon certainly has a unique flare for design!

I have photographed Egon's work for magazine editorials on three occasions. His clever blend of colours and textures with antique and retro treasures, translates well into an eye-catching feature. I always enjoy working with him as he's easy to get along with, well organised and has a great eye for detail.
