So many beautiful kitchens!
Excellent ideas!
Bay Window at sink - room for herbs. South-facing kitchens receive the most sun, whereas kitchens oriented to the north receive the least amount of sunlight. Of course, the downside to a south-facing kitchen is the additional solar heat gain, so if you live in a hot climate, you may wish to orient the kitchen to the east to capture the soft morning light.

A 10-inch-thick walnut butcher block cutting board sits at the end of the island near the cooktop and ovens. “This is such a long island, I didn’t want it to feel like a bowling alley,” Antonuccio says. “It allows for a nice wow moment, and it gives you a spot to work and turn around with the range top right there.”

The countertop next to the sink features an integrated drainboard that allows the homeowners to let dishes dry directly on the counter without a drying rack. It’s a vintage feature that the designer hopes comes back into fashion.

And don’t pamper just the humans in your life. The end of an island is a great spot for a dedicated pet feeding station, like the one shown here in a Denver kitchen by Studio Dearborn. “I often recommend a dog bowl water filler and food [storage] built into a kitchen island,” designer Ray Langhammer says. “Why? I love dogs, and any homeowner that is a dog or animal owner loves this feature. It’s a designated area for your animal that is out of the way and doesn’t get kicked by guests.” Make the shelf height for the bowls adjustable for shorter/taller dogs. Eliminate the drawer below.
Island with seating on both sides. Would prefer it to be table height rather than counter height.
Range and prep sink in the bay window area. Interesting! Splatter on windows?
In this Miami kitchen by Dreamstar Custom Homes, a beverage fridge on the outer side of the island lets family members and guests grab drinks without getting in the way in the main traffic area.
