Crittall doors. Worth noting the piers either side - don't really impede look but less steelwork needed. Also like roof lights.
Though this is a sponsored article, it does make good points about the advantage of using an architect.
One of the things I like best in our house is being able to feel connected with the outside from the kitchen (and indeed from the front door as you can see all the way through). Do you like this, or doesn't it bother you? If so, we should think about how to achieve it as it will influence heights, materials etc.
This is quite interesting although I found some of it a bit trixy and didn't like things like different ceiling heights etc. But I did think the way the kitchen has been put in the darker part of the living area worked really well and might be good for you too.

Some good ideas. Not sure about replacing windows with modern ones though -look out of character to me!
