LaCantina Doors

Never, never, never buy a La Cantina door. First, they do not include door screens for most (if not all) their doors, so if keeping bugs out of your house is important, go elsewhere. Second, the door sill holds water. To the point that we were getting a distinct mold smell in the room after the very first time it rained. Eventually the room became unbearable and was not able to be used, all from the sill of their door. We were able to prove that the smell was coming from the door, and the door was holding water by putting the edge of a towel in the weep holes and showing that the towel absorbed water, even though it hadn't rained in over a week and the door was in direct sunlight. Over the course of a year La Cantina's customer service was nonexistent, and they refused to come out when the door was removed when we asked, even though they were trying to blame the installers. If they were there, and felt it was the installer's fault, they could have pointed that out at the time of removal. Instead, they refused to do anything and did not even offer a discount on a replacement. Never buy a La Cantina door.

Horrible customer service. The rep that helped me was rude and did not resolve my issue. I spent $17K on slider doors that are just 2 years old. The locking mechanism failed and my dog was trapped in the garage as a result (as seen in the photo). I managed with the help of a locksmith to get in but now can no longer close my door until a La Cantina tech can come out. They are two months out from being able to service it and that is completely out of pocket. ONLY their techs can do anything about it. Zero empathy for our situation. I would never recommend these doors or La Cantina.

Would highly recommend not installing La Cantina folding doors, we installed the door in 2021, the door consistently got stuck after installation. We are in San Diego, the manufacturer, LaCantina is local to San Diego. After a lot of complaints the manufacturers sent technicians to fix it, it worked for about and year and half and then got stuck again. Send the information to the manufacturers who charged $255 for a technician to come look at it, even though it is under warranty. Then they charged my credit card and never got back to me, after I contacted them again they set an appointment for a month later after the charges were made. This door was more than 10K, all the 1 star ratings are accurate, don't install this door. Update: The technician came by and tried to adjust the door, the update was that the frame is sagging, and will have to be replaced/reinstalled. The La Cantina door is not mechanically stable and the support from the company is very bad.

We bought 3-panel sliding door (almost $20k) because they were sold to us as the “best of the best, the Rolls Royce of doors” and unfortunately, they are anything but that. I could have saved myself $10-15k and gone to Lowe’s or HD for the quality that these doors are! We have been dealing with shoddy manufacturing for going on 3 years, trying to get them to fix the issues. At first, they tried to blame Covid as being the reason there were so many issues. But it’s 2023 now and the same issues. They refuse see there is a major manufacturing defect in these doors. The interior of these doors have a metal lining, separating the two glass panels, that is all bent up and wavy. There is also a rubber tubing they use to insulate the door and this looks like a 5 year olds craft project. Half is pushed in, half isn’t, and it’s all wavy. It’s garbage manufacturing and looks terrible. I hate to find out what the structure looks like with high rain. Fortunately, this is under a large deck, so rain doesn’t hit it directly. We are now on our 20+ (I stopped counting at some point) order and it’s still the same issues, sometimes even worse than the ones before. Glass comes scratched at times and/or the detailing is crap. Absolutely NO ONE buys a Rolls Royce, Maserati, or Bentley with dinged up doors, wavy stitching, scratched glass, or punctured leather seats, so why would you produce a supposed high end product that looks like a department stores quality of product (which that’s being generous. I actually think that some of the department stores brands have better quality). If I could post photos I would, but that isn’t an option. Save your money and go with a different company that’s willing to fix the issues and give you a superior product!!

A nightmare door. I bought a house with one of these 9ft folding doors recently installed and it constantly gets stuck or the locking mechanism breaks. LaCantina support doesn't know any service people in my area (Seattle). I described the problem and the my sent me a random part which was no hep at all even though I told them I need a person not a part. I really love the way this door looks and wanted to put one upstairs in a renovation I am planning, however at this point I want to rip this out and put in something else.

I loved La Cantina doors but have been extremely dissatisfied with my recent experience. I spent over $24K on my doors and waited 8 months to receive them, only to find out La Cantina built them with the Jambs upside down. I now have a gaping hole in my house with no ETA on when it will be resolved. La Cantina sent me to their standard warranty terms on their website, but they didn't even reach out personally to apologize or try to rectify the situation with a credit for the inconvenience caused. I've never seen such terrible customer sat and am very disappointed. I have many friends and people in my industry doing similar projects and will be recommending alternative providers to them.

We installed a large multi door sliding system in 2020 (7’Hx 24’LN) in the PNW. For the second year in a row we are having issues with the locking mechanism. There is visible bow, so we are wondering if the two innermost panels are bad. LaCantina can you please help?

After hurricane Harvey we Got folding la cantina doors Recommended by our contractors. They look amazing! BUT after only 6 months one of the panel showed water coming between the glass layers. The local supplier did in fact come out and replace it. Then the black seal at the bottom of the doors began coming off and also leave black marks on the door bottom sill .... really ugly... I try to clean it off as best I can.... installer trying to get replacement seal from la cantina but it’s been literally almost a year and he still trying.... !!!!!!!!

We could not be more pleased. Josh with La Cantina took the time to listen to our experience, with Pelletier, did the research, and proposed a more than reasonable solution. The professional factory technicians came to our home and addressed the issues with no disruption to the construction timeline. Everyone concerned, from La Cantina, exhibited care to ensure a quality outcome. After months of excuses from the distributor, Pelletier, as to why I could not have the window as depicted in the La Cantina Factory Showroom, Josh and the La Cantina team stepped in and addressed the matter ensuring that we recieved what had been ordered. My experience has turned out to be bordering on disastrous. Obviously customer service is non- existent here. My experience w/2 incorrectly ordered windows leads me to ask if La Cantina ensures that the companies who represent them are properly trained in their window and door products. At the moment the dealer is telling me I was misled by the factory. At the very beginning of my process I visited the La Cantina Factory & it was there I was provided with exact factory verbiage to be used to place my order. Was I lied to at the factory to secure a sale? All information was provided to my Pelletier Rep, including the name and contact info for the La Cantina sales rep I spoke with on the day I visited the factory, Steve C. I provided Steve with details regarding where the window was going at my home, the fact that wanted to order exactly what I was viewing in the La Cantina Factory Showroom, all to ensure that what I was ordering was in fact correct/acceptable. Should La Cantina provide lunch & learns or select an appropriate way to educate its dealers? I don’t know what their metrics are for selecting quality dealers with integrity but Pelletier doesn’t care. We are on the second window (first one was completely mis-ordered & then manufactured backwards). The second window still has down-throw bolts and an ugly/janky rubber weather stripping on the window frame that is scratching the granite counter top & not the "weather resistant sill" (under brush weather stripping) that I requested. At this point I am asking for what I ordered but being told a service call would be at my expense, factory tells me one thing and dealer tells me another. Not it is that I can have painted sweeps - why would I paint rubber for it to flake off and look worse that I already have? Why can I not seem to get what I saw in the factory showroom and provided the verbiage for? The excuses are multiple, yet never the same. I have been told I cannot have it that way as La Cantina does not manufacture that type of servery window (then why is is on display in the factory showroom??!!!??) all the way to I received bad intel from a disgruntled sales person who was on their way out and this was his way of "getting back at La Cantina". Uhhh, sorry that should not be my problem ~ yet it is.

I am a Sliding Door and Folding Door service provider. my company is Sliding Door Guru and I have been designing, manufacturing, installing and servicing Folding doors and Sliding Doors since 1984 I have customers call weekly for service on their La Cantina folding doors. usually they have already contacted Aaron at La Cantina and or they have called a dealer based on the conversation with Aaron, they always refer the service calls to a dealer. Most La Cantina dealers do not install or service the products they are only a distribution outlet for you to purchase your folding and sliding doors. Most of the time I have recommended to the clients that perhaps the best solution is to replace their La Cantina Folding Doors With Fleetwood Aluminum Sliding or Folding Doors or maybe Weiland Sliding Doors and Folding Doors both of which have a proven track record for service after the products are installed no matter how old they are. I can not recommend La Cantina Folding Doors for the simple reason that so many customers call weekly with un solvable La Cantina service troublesk

Doors are really nice. Locking mechanism is a bit tricky but the LaCantina crew was responsive and customer-service was really good. They came out, checked the lock, adjusted the door and all was good.

We have LaCantina doors in our tiny home. They are absolutely my favorite feature of the home!!! The doors are our connection from the indoors to the outdoors, and truly open the home up. We were super impressed with the customer service and attention to detail during in the installation process. I would highly recommend the bifolding doors. They are worth every penny, and add so much value and happiness to the home!

Great service. My door was jammed up pretty good and when I initially used a third party to fix my door they couldn’t do it. Lacantina was able to fix it and improve the locking mechanism in under 30 minutes. Great service

Worst customer service ever. They delivered a damaged door. They repaired it with a different color. They did nothing to expedite the door . Worst customer service ever!!!!!!

My second project with LaCantina was a unique lake front house in Vermont. With stunning views, their folding door system really expanded our interior space onto the main deck without blocking the lake or mountain views. Because they have so many door operation styles, we were able to take care of all of our exterior door needs. This is important to keep consistency around the house. In total, we used their folding, sliding, swing, and french door systems. Their solid architectural bronze anodizing worked perfectly with out black clad windows.

LaCantina Doors completely transformed our golf course home in Palm Springs! The sliding window that retracts into the wall of our kitchen is absolutely fabulous and makes outdoor cooking on the grill a dream. It slides easily. The accordion doors are wonderful. We replaced all of our sliders with the accordion doors to maximize the indoor-outdoor connection. La Cantina's doors are every bit as high-quality as other more-expensive brands. The doors are energy efficient and operate easily. I highly recommend them!

After waiting 10 weeks for my $20K sliding doors to deliver the track that was shipped was bent. There was no damage at all to the crate or packaging and no scratches on the finish indicating this was done prior to packaging. The installers gave me no confidence telling me this stuff happens al the time with LaCantina. Now my project is delayed while the company I bought them from works to get a replacement track from LaCantina. After reading the reviews on hear I have no faith in their ability to make this a priority and get me a replacement ASAP. LaCantina needs to reach out to me ASAP.

Worst experience I have ever had with any vendor, and I have been in the construction industry most of my life. I ordered 4 doors and a window, and 4 out of 5 were built wrong. Terrible customer service, they don't show up when they say they will, repair technicians complained about their own company. The window was completely wrong, and when they said that was the way they make them, I had to show them their own catalog with a detail of the way it was supposed to be. The building inspector rejected it, but La Cantina refused to fix it. There are many good alternatives out there.

I need to express my complete satisfaction with Shay & Joe from customer service and the Tech/field support departments. We had a small issue that needed field attention and these guys were on it. They said they would do whatever it would take to make our customer happy, right on!!! They did.

LaCantina Doors is an excellent company, providing innovative bi folding doors for exterior applications. They have a great local sales representative Jake, who is extremely knowledgeable and personable.

Great product but BUYER BEWARE IF YOU NEED HELP! I purchase& install around 10 - 15 of their units a year on my projects because the product is very good. Unfortunately they have the worst and most unresponsive customer service department I have to deal with. You can fill out the request forms for an eternity without every receiving a response. When you call to follow up it is like they have never heard of your request before and then they ask you fill out the form again........ It's a painful cycle to try and explain to your clients...... Anytime I have to call them for parts, even simple things like weather stripping it is a battle to get it done. It's very disappointing and it is hard to feel like they stand behind their product when you have to go through this process.

I live in Arkansas and wanted to replace a leaking patio door with a Hurricane rated patio door. While the La Cantina folding door looks incredible, it LEAKS even with small amounts of rain on the sides by the hinges and through the threshold into the sill pan. I can't imagine what would happen if I lived in a hurricane area. La Cantina tech support said its not their problem and the La Cantina installer ignores my calls. Further, La Cantina drills horizontal weep holes in their threshold to let water drain out...another indication of a design flaw. FYI, the warranty requires both a properly installed sill pan and a roof---why would a hurricane rated door need these? Because it leaks of course! **followup after repair I wish I could say things like "thank you for offering to help the first, second, or third time", or "thank you for great service", or "thank you for not blaming everything the installer", or "thank you for a customer service department who did not provide canned excuses to avoid answering my questions when I tried to get advice on how to comply with the warranty", or "thank you for not making me personally spend the time to design a threshold that would prevent leaks", or "thank you for really good installation instructions that helped comply with the warranty", or "thank you for properly engineering a seal that did not let water in around the hinges".....but it is just a wish

We have three La Cantinas at our home. They are beautiful and well made. We have had some adjustment problems with one of them and were dealing with the installer for a while. The problem kept happening and when I contacted La Cantina directly I wished I had done it before. Great customer service, they came in with a crew of three people, adjusted the door, checked on the others and really cared about our satisfaction asking questions, troubleshooting and offering solutions for more than what we asked for. Doors are working perfect now. Very pleased.

I love LaCantina doors! The product speaks for itself....But I love their team even more! It feels like a family-run business, with the attentiveness, attention to detail, follow through and follow up... I've been using their doors for almost 10 years, and never had a problem. As a designer, I really appreciate that the finishes match perfectly with all the big name window companies. I've used the bifolding and the multi slides on projects and can't decide which I like better! I've used many window and door companies but never have I been as pleased as I am with LaCantina.

This review is to express my utmost appreciation for the topnotch product and service that the La Cantina team has given me--in particular, Aaron, who handled all communication traffic with utmost sense of urgency and the installers, Joe and Todd who were so courteous, respectful, hardworking, and committed. If the level of dedication in customer service/ post-sales aftercare that they had shown me is any indication, then La Cantina's team is indeed exemplary! The above names that I have mentioned worked as one team and as such, delivered a most-satisfying customer service. All three had a common goal--to make a La Cantina customer happy and satisfied. And they knew how to make it happen! Case in point-- not once did Aaron betray an annoying tone in my many conversations with him. He was ready to listen and always had a happy, respectful tone to address my concerns. The installers, Todd and Joe, on the other hand, had my welfare in mind when they noticed the installation mistakes (my contractor made a mistake) and a minor manufacturing mishap on my bi-fold door, the first time they came in to check on it. Both guys did " what made sense" to correct the situation. They told me not to worry and proceeded to make a request for a new bi-fold door (six panels, 9-feet high). The request was made to and approved by the main office on the phone, in front of me (in about five minutes). On a second site visit, Todd even offered to come back again to install the new door after it has been properly stained, to ensure good aesthetics. On installation day, Joe (with his assistant, Esteban) had to stay on site until 8:30 p.m., in order to finish the installation job, with nary a complaint. I would also like to mention that the South Bay area sales rep, Shanel, was most helpful in dealing with the window & door company that I had used to purchase the door. Shanel stepped up and provided the post-sales aftercare that I needed; something that the window & door company that I used to get stuff for my entire brand-new house did not care about after getting my business. Shanel came to my house and not only comforted me, but made sure that my door gets properly installed at no additional cost. On the happy side now, little did I know that the La Cantina door would become the "piece de resistance" of our "modern craftsman" house. The door opens to a hillside pool that overlooks the Rolling Hills Country Club golf course, thus making it possible for a seamless indoor-outdoor entertainment space. Several of my friends who are also thinking of rebuilding their homes have made comments about how pretty the door is. La Cantina is so worth it. Thank you again for a great product. I have the La Cantina doors and screen/blind system in my newly built house. Although the doors and screen/blind system are beautiful, the blind quickly came off its track and for the last 6 months has been hanging off its track. La Cantina only sent me a replacement wire, saying they would not be responsible for more than that. They were not helpful at all and said they did not know of anyone who could fix the blind. I have been unable to find anyone in my area - Marin County, California, who will and/or has the knowledge to work on the system. Thus, I am stuck with a faulty non-functioning system that blocks the doors. I cannot use the doors, the blind or the screen from the other side. I have spent many hours in contact with La Cantina and others trying to get this fixed and there has been very, very poor customer service and absolutely no taking of responsibility for the issue. I have been told by a service company in another part of the state that La Cantina is known for terrible customer service and abandoning their product. I would definitely never purchase from them again. I now have a nightmare on my hands that no one apparently is willing to fix.

We did a home remodel in 2014 and part of that was installing a La Cantina door system which includes five door panels. The primary door to the backyard which is part of the system has required numerous adjustments (the door does not shut and rubs against the opposite door which has taken off the paint) and is obviously defective. Despite this, LA Cantina has not stood behind their product and has forced us to pay a third party to fix which will include replacing the door hinge. I would think twice about buying a door system from this company given they don't stand behind their products and fix what is defective but instead pass the cost along to the consumer.

Excellent product and service! The doors look great and function nicely. I ordered systems for 5 door openings and all fit and installed perfectly.

Amazing! I knew this was the look I wanted and my GC said LaCantina made the best product on the market. After seeing the installation, I can see why my GC loved them so much. I can see and feel the quality of the craftsmanship in all the details. If you're looking for an unobstructed view this is the only way to go. I would highly recommend them to anyone and would buy them again. I love them! -Tim

We hired LaCantina to build our custom windows and doors for our new bar. They sent someone out to measure the space exactly and then gave us different recommendations for styles based on our openings. We had actually be referred to them from another happy customer, so it only makes sense for us to do the same. For the bar, the designed and built 2 large, 3-panel custom windows and 2 large, 3-panel custom doors. The quality is amazing and they even worked with our contractor to ensure everything was supported and installed properly. We went with a more expensive version, the full wood design and then stained them ourselves because we were undecided on the final stain before installation. We get compliments on the doors and windows almost everyday as we open them for restaurant service. I would highly recommend LaCantina and their products.

We have two large openings in our home that we purchased LaCantina Doors for. They have completely changed the space. The open feel we now achieve, specially in our 19 foot opening, is simply unbelievable. Guests are blown away by the sleek and modern look. Great quality. Amazing Doors!

ABSi has successfully represented LaCantina for 7 plus years! We have grown to become one of LaCantina's largest Dealers in the State of California with 100's of systems sold. We consider LaCantina an important core vendor and have a rock solid relationship with the principles and management staff. The product quality is superb and ease of installation remarkable.

I spent just over $30,000.00 with LaCantina. The ordering process went smoothly, but that was it. The screens came from another shipping location. I asked for them to hold as it was a large custom job and would not want them on site for fear of damage or loss. While they said OK, they shipped right away. Shipped wrong items and were damaged on site. Installer put up with wrong items and I had to pay to pull them out and pay again once I rec'd the correct ones. We are on a lake, when the wind blows on shore, the doors whistler. We tried all the adjustments when they all failed customer service said their doors are not marketed as air tight. Really? We're in cold winter weather, the metal hardware ices up really thick inside when the wind blows and we need to use a hair dryer to melt them and towels to dry them several times a week. On an even number of doors unit, the E/E door is the first one and there is nothing to secure it open or closed. We just use a couple of big logs on either side. Otherwise the wind slams them shut or open. One of our three door sets ices up alot on the bottom (but not the other 2 sets installed beside this one). They all have wood caps on the aluminum and we suppose the wood will need refinishing annually because of this ice and water build up inside. We have whole house humidification and keep it turned down to 30% humidity in the winter to try to reduce the build up, but its from air penetration not from excessive humidification. We are able to control the whistle now by using duct tape on the seams between the doors. One of the door handles does not lock and we have had to put a dead bolt on the inside for security. Customer order service was always quick to reply, but their after sales service rep. Ismael Garcia NEVER even replies to requests for assistance. I purchased these directly from LaCantina, not through a dealer. These bifolds are NOT engineered for cold climates.

We have worked with La Cantina doors many times and have always found both the product and support offered by them exceptional. Every door they offer works perfectly and they have excellent technical and sales support to make sure that our jobs go smoothly every time. Anyone who is looking for a specialty door product would be wise to check out this company!

RE Tang deck remodel project, Laguna Beach CA. We evaluated a number of products prior to choosing La Cantina. We now have had the doors for about 16 months. We are very happy with our decision. My only criticism of La Cantina was the difficulty I had in getting connected to a dealer. That took repeated emails and phone messages as I am a homeowner and not an architect or contractor. I served as owner builder for this remodel.

I recently purchased a La Cantina bi-fold door system. I had an opening that was rather large (19ft). The aluminum exterior was custom painted to my exact color sample that matches my windows. The interior was mahogany. The door was just installed and looks beautiful. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for bi-fold doors.

It literally feels like you are sitting outside with the views that they opened up. In addition, we had quite a bit of trouble and drama with our contractor. As a carpenter (door installer) for more than 45 years I am very displeased with the extremely high cost the customers paid for these doors. The design is OK but the top of the doors allow for water to enter there. Even with weep holes in the threshold water will inevitably do damage as it passes through the hollow metal side pieces. The screws are as cheap as they come. The holes the screws fit into are not taped (threaded) and you have to tap them with the screws provided. (please apply some oil as you struggle through this phase) The screws for the threshold, jambs, and header piece are all over sized and all of the screws for everything has to small of a Philips insert. (a #2) This causes them to strip out. Hand driving is the call for the hinge screws. And the screws for the leaver handle were too long and you will need to purchase others or cut and file the ones provided. We we shorted 2 sets of magnet s that hold the doors in a closed position. Also the screw caps were short. (not enough provided) The bottom line on these doors is that sure they're pretty and operate well in the frames provided once installed but, for the Thousands of dollars you will spend the installer has to do all the work of preparing the holes and providing better screws that the factory should be providing. These Aussies are laughing all the way to the bank on your $12,000.00 door. And they don't even have installers. The directions are OK. The adjustments are ample. Another big problem is that there is no way to keep out flies and spiders and moths and other flying and creepy things from entering your home.

There has been an update in his matter since the first time I posted the review. I've decided the modify my earlier review in light of these changes We bought a set of 16'x8' door panels from LaCantina. The ordering process was smooth and they responded quickly to emails. We ran into some issues with some panels being stained/discolored. After some back and forth we were finally able to come to an agreement and settle the matter. The doors do look great minus the imperfections and I wouldn't hesitate to use these in other projects.

We have worked with LaCantina on many projects from multi-family dwellings to free standing homes. These guys have a super high quality product and pay attention to the details. Above and beyond using this product on clients' homes both principals and our senior project manager have all spec'ed them for their own homes.
