Alison Dodds Architect is a small practice based in South Yarra that specialises in high quality residential architecture and interiors. A considered response to site, context, affordability and client brief, contribute to the evolution of each project. Our primary aim is to listen to our client’s specific needs and generate spaces that are configured pragmatically but can also enhance the emotional experience of the home. We gain immense satisfaction from taking our client's ideas and making them a reality with an added measure of architecturally inspired and innovative design. As we are a small firm, the personalised service that we offer means clients deal with the same people and develop a mutual working relationship throughout the project. Additionally, we have extensive experience in dealing with local councils, which we believe is pivotal in order to facilitate the path from conception through to building and completion.

Alison is the principal architect and has extensive involvement in each project from the early phase of design development to administering projects throughout the construction period. After graduating from RMIT and gaining her professional Architectural Registration, Alison has built up over 25 years of invaluable experience in architectural practice from being involved in both residential and commercial work throughout Melbourne and surrounding regions. However, she is primarily inspired by her residential work. Alison started her own small business at Alison Dodds Architect in 1991, where she continues to deliver exceptional buildings along with innovative and cost effective architectural solutions.

I have engaged Alison Dodds Architect for the renovation of my inner city home. While still in the pre-construction stage, I am delighted with progress to date. ADA has successfully navigated a range of complicated planning issues, developed an exciting design that meets all my requirements, and assisted me to better understand the processes involved in undertaking a large project. Their approach throughout has been thoroughly professional.

The team at Alison Dodds Architect were extremely professional to work with and knowledgeable of the industry. They guided us through our entire renovation from pre planning through to final inspection. I most valued their attention to detail, vast experience and creativity. They both had excellent communication skills which helped when we needed selections made and any documents updated in a timely manner to keep the job progressing. We loved working with Alison and her team. They listened to us and took the time to understand our objectives and tastes. Whilst always respecting our opinion, they would give advice and suggestions when they believed necessary, as well as proposing other options. They were proactive and communicated well with the builders and landscaper, and the finished product is of a very high quality. The project finished slightly behind schedule, but this was not the architects fault. Alison and her team are professional and experienced, and I highly recommend them.

Alison Dodds Architect was the only company we approached to do our build. As soon as my husband and I met Alison we knew she was the person for the job. Straight away we were on the same wavelength and we were in love with her style. She and her team were fabulous to work with. There were no egos just harmony.Not a stone was turned until we all knew what we wanted which meant there were no added unforeseen costs. My only regret is that we are not building another house with Alison and her team

We could not be more impressed with Bill Bowie Builder and Alison Dodds Architect (ADA) combining/working together with our recent house renovation. From the initial drawings to final plans and through the entire implementation process ADA worked tirelessly as a team on our behalf to achieve the final desired outcome. ADA combined architectural expertise (design & technical etc) with excellent day to day management, allowing for the necessary changes and using their problem solving ability to achieve the desired outcome of a complete family home renovation. We finished a 13 month renovation 12 months ago and could not recommend ADA highly enough.
