Jeffrey Smalley Architects, founded in 1992, develops building solutions in collaborative partnership with the clients we serve. Using clear visual, written and oral communications, issues are addressed and resolved through expressive use of materials and details with a commitment to straightforward solutions. Design begins with respect for the particular qualities of individual sites, their light, topography, materials and local character. Our practice pursues a design process that balances local context and client aspirations with innovative design and energy efficiency. Prior to establishing his firm, Jeffrey Smalley spent seven years as a designer and project architect with architectural companies in Boston and Los Angeles and was responsible for the design and construction of diverse projects ranging from residences and libraries to hotels and medical facilities. Over the past sixteen years the office has completed new homes, remodels, additions and commercial work in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Cape Town, South Africa.
