We bought our second home in Scottsdale while living and working in the Bay Area. Since we were not able to be on site after the sale, Traci was our person on the ground. Once she restored, designed and furnished the main house, she did the same for the casita. Traci is refreshingly direct and knows what I need before I can even express it. I’m very traditional and love antique décor, which is not a good fit with our Southwestern Scottsdale home. She incorporated subtle touches of Spanish Colonial that make me happy When we purchased a high-rise condo in San Diego that needed renovation, she helped me choose the contractor and spoke their language. Together, they worked out a plan to remodel in two phases so we wouldn’t lose time waiting for permitting. I don’t know what we would do without Traci.

I rely on Traci to continue to make our home beautiful, comfortable and cozy. We started with designing two bedrooms and gutting and renovating the two on-suite bathrooms. Then, she completely redid our outdated living room with new furniture, a beautiful fireplace and cabinetry. She had the extensive artwork we collected on our travels professionally framed and hung throughout our home. Now she’s converting our existing home office into a wine room. Traci is confident, no nonsense and efficient. If anything goes wrong, she’s quick to fix it. All her trade workers are clean and respectful of us and our home. Traci’s positive attitude is contagious and we get excited about every new project with her.

Traci is a problem solver. She listens and is an expert in her field. We bought a shell of a home with a basic floorplan and needed all new furniture, artwork and remodeling. While we were residing at our main home in New York, we trusted Traci to oversee the complete renovation. Her proactive troubleshooting prevented a lot of costly mistakes. Traci recommended architectural design changes that have added more usable square footage, like replacing barn doors with pocket doors. Our home functions so much better than any of our neighbors’ homes. We are art lovers but knew little about modern art. Traci took us to local galleries and we spoke with art experts so we could make wise investments and fully appreciate our new collection. She went above and beyond what we thought an interior designer could do for us.

I have had the pleasure of working with Traci and her team on many projects over the past 15 years. Her clients have always expressed to me how Traci goes above and beyond for them and their home. I personally admire the way she is able to design, and excel, in so many different decor styles. Also, as a subcontractor, we really appreciate the way Traci manages a project and holds all of the subs accountable for their own piece of the puzzle. It makes the entire project move along smoothly and efficiently. The Friedman and Shields team is the epitome of professionalism.

My wife and I used Friedman and Shields in 2019 to renovate and redecorate our new contemporary desert home. Traci came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. We decided this year to complete the renovation by redoing our last guestroom. As before, Traci worked with us to understand our desires and then took that and made it into something that is quite special. We redid flooring, furniture and artwork in this latest renovation. This completes our abode and has made it into a unique Arizona home. Traci helped us create the look that we only loosely envisioned but could not have done on our own. Along the way her team kept us apprised of our budget and costs so that there were no surprises. We recommend Traci and her team for any level of work including construction, decoration, furniture and artwork. Thanks once again, Friedman and Shields!

I have worked with Traci for the past few years during the furnishings and renovation of our historic California home. Our goal was to bring back the original hacienda charm and character. Traci’s knowledge of construction paired with her understanding of classic Spanish design helped us bridge our skill gaps. She was able to take a cramped 30 year old, poorly designed kitchen and transform it into a beautiful warm gathering place for our family and friends. She was a constant guide in making critical decisions. She was available to answer questions the trades had, despite our construction taking place out of state. Traci’s professional, positive attitude and ability was consistent throughout our entire job. Working on this project together made all the endless details less overwhelming for us. Her innovative vision for transforming space made all the difference in completing our dream home. I would highly recommend Friedman & Shields.

We bought our house 4 years ago and wasn’t able to do the upstairs bathrooms until this year. We loved Traci and her team who did an incredible job of remodeling our 3 bathrooms. Traci does such wonderful work. She is extremely detail oriented and stayed within budget and still able to give us a high end look. We are so very happy with all her design ideas which we would of never had thought of! This was all going on over COVID and everything went great.

I have worked with Traci for over 20 years now and i am always impressed with her skill and abilities. Not only with her ability to instill a sense of confidence with her clients, but to take a job from start to finish and allways produce stunning results. Without a doubt she has influenced my own design acumen, but even more she continues to stay on top of what is popular while being able to integrate that uniquely to each client.
I intend to stay with Friedman and Sheilds because they are simply the best and always deliver what they say with quality and value being first. My shop and services will always be available to her before all others.
One of my proudest recent job with them was the Bezanson residence,an entire house remodel that was completed with stunning results.

I have worked with Traci Shields of Friedman & Shields on numerous occasions over the years doing living room, master bedroom, and most recently a master bath remodel. I have always found Traci and her team to have inventive solutions in redefining space.
In 2020, I contacted Traci to help me with a full master bath remodel at a home located at near Newport Beach, CA. The customer wanted a unique & impressive design and Traci’s team responded with professional drawings that included new ceiling vaults with outstanding lighting and a truly remarkable bathroom design.
Her attention to detail and product knowledge is truly the ‘best of the best’.

Friedman&Shields completed the first phase our whole-house remodel. Traci created an amazing design for us - listening to our wants and needs, and also ensuring that the new design blended perfectly with the original architectural style of our home. She provided great advice along the way to keep our budget on track, ensuring that every penny was spent wisely for maximum impact and other materials were reused where possible to save money. Fred did a great job managing the construction from start to finish. Even when permitting delays caused us to get a bit behind schedule, Fred worked his magic to get us caught up so the project could be finished in time for our Thanksgiving party. The finished product was amazing.....and exceeded our expectations. The team even handled each and every punchlist item on our list until we were completely satisfied. We are getting ready to start the second phase of our remodel now, and are excited to work with this team again!

Definitely overpriced. After giving them a $5,000 deposit plus initial consulting fees, I decided that they were over charging me on everything and decided to use help from other designers. Very disappointed. I probably got 10 hours work from all of that money. Would not use them unless you have money to burn.

Hi Susan, you are correct in that we do charge for our initial consultations. In addition, we had a letter of agreement with you along with your $5000 non-refundable retainer (as stated in our agreement) to design and complete your remodeling project. When you decided to cancel your contract with us, we offered to apply that non-refundable deposit to the 20+ design hours we spent on your job and welcomed you to come in as you needed additional advise, which you did. I am sorry to hear that we were not the right fit for your specific job. We wish you the best of luck completing your project.

Traci at Friedman & Shields is an amazing interior designer. She did a full interior design of our new home. Traci worked closely with our builder in customizing our home to fit our lifestyle and taste. She met with us on a regular basis to choose finishes, fixtures, flooring, lighting, window treatments, art, accessories, furniture and bedding. We absolutely love our new home. Traci and her team are true professionals that we highly recommend.

My dad was a contractor back in the day, and I worked with him one summer (hardest work I have ever done). My dad had the best work ethic and did quality work. So that is what I look for in a contractor, sub-contractor and designer. Traci Shields is excellent! She and her supervisor Fred are organized, professional and they get the job done efficiently and with top-quality work. Traci and Fred's sub-contractors show up when they say they are coming and the work is always perfect. It is the work ethic I grew up with and I don't accept anything less. We were new to Arizona and wanted a completely new look for our contemporary desert home - rooms enlarged, furniture and art. We researched designers and Traci came highly recommended. Our home transformation was amazing. Traci guided us with a strong hand to help us achieve the look we wanted. She knew how to suggest and guide as we needed a strong hand in selecting colors, furniture and original art. We knew what we liked but didn't know how to get there. She has a solid knowledge of contracting as well as design so she knew how to make the structural changes we needed. She provided comprehensive services from wall removal to final knick knacks and bedding. My husband and I could not be happier. We now have a truly beautiful home. I highly recommend Traci and her team. They are efficient and organized. Her contractors are professional and do good work. All in all Friedman and Shields did not disappoint.

My husband and I purchased a 20 year old Pueblo/Territorial style house with a lovely view but a very dated interior in Scottsdale. I wanted a more contemporary and updated look that would seamlessly merge the positive aspects of the old house with a contemporary sensibility while staying within our budget of $250,000, all while we were living in another state. No small challenge! Traci Shields enthusiastically took this project on.
She carefully listened to our wants and put a vision in place. She has an incredible eye for detail, organization and a sophisticated yet practical aesthetic sense. Combined with her talented team of designers, accessible on-site construction supervisor, and excellent tradespeople, deadlines were always met and the project was completed on time and under budget. She has the highest integrity and transparency and is a pleasure to work with.

We have lived in several new homes in the Phoenix area and used Traci with Friedman and Shields for several projects. On our most recent home, we contacted Traci regarding updating our kitchen. Traci’s recommendations, perspective and insights were stunning. The execution was on time, met our budget and was beautiful when completed. Traci’s oversight on our project made all the difference. We loved the outcome and it brought additional value to the home when we sold it in 2017.

Working with Traci was a wonderful experience with excellent results .
We built a lovely home ten years ago and were not ready to renovate but were wanting to do a few updates. Traci came to our home with fresh eyes and ideas ... it was amazing. We rearranged furniture, accessories and art. We did purchase a few pieces of furniture and accessories but most of the "magic" came from Traci's ability to work with what we had . It wasn't an expensive project because Traci was respectful of our budget. However, the changes made a dramatic difference in the appearance of out home. AND, the process was extremely FUN !!!!! I'll never do a project again without Traci

Traci and her team were a pleasure to work with and exceeded our high expectations. When we moved to our new home we had much more square footage and there was some work that needed to be done. Traci listened to all of our wishes and helped us find the perfect furnishings and paint colors. She also surveyed our existing furniture and showed us what would make sense to use.
My one difficult request was that our office had both desks facing the door (feng shui). Traci was able to come up with the perfect design within minutes that would fit the space. Not only is the desk perfect she also recommended additional storage which as small business owners we needed for our office. The office turned out amazing!
We could not be happier with the way our new home turned out. We have gotten compliments from all of our friends and family. I would most highly recommend Traci and her team!

Traci Shields transformed a 20 year old bathroom-dressing room area into a zen like spa, while working with our existing cabinets and painted wood trim that are found throughout the house. She and her staff and contractors were a pleasure to work with....especially since we were across the country during the entire project, only seeing the finished results when we returned 3 months later! The results met all our expectations. By making all the design decisions at the outset we were able to follow the work remotely by updates and photos. Traci has followed up with advice on additional purchases and suggestions as we have returned and started using our new space. She is always helpful and positive in her attitude. We would happily work with her again!

What a difference!! I needed to make my new office space as professional and upscale as possible without spending a fortune as I am a new business owner in Prescott, AZ. We hired Traci in September 2016 for a remodel of a home we purchased in old town Scottsdale. She was amazing! She worked with in our budget and was clever in where we spent the money.
She reconfigured our master bathroom and gave us an amazing new powderoom as well. Our home is now open concept thanks to moving some walls and getting creative! Our home would not be as beautiful as it is without her incredible taste and design experience. I love our new house thanks to Traci !

Traci helped us with a second home we purchased in Flagstaff, AZ. The home was furnished, and we wanted design services to help us make it ours. The first thing Traci did was help us edit all the things we decided not to keep, and that made a huge difference. She then helped us come up with a design direction, purchase the itemsand installed them, and we now have a lovely home that is ours. Traci is very professional, offered many choices, and works in many styles. Since our project was out of town, when she did come up to install the items, she did an incredible amount of work in the time she was there. We are very pleased with the design service we received from Traci, and have now asked her to consult on our primary home.

Working with Traci was 5 stars for sure. I was impressed right off the bat. The ideas that she came up with to tweek our kitchen layout was incredible, and was nothing that I had thought of (which made me feel so good about hiring her because I consider myself a decor enthusiast via pinterest ;) ). But the things that she suggested (to move our counter top back and reconfigure our use of the panty space was genius. This is what surprised me the most, that she came up with totally original and unique ways to think thru our use of space that NO ONE had thought of before. I am always a bit warty of designers because I like my "look" and I want to make sure that it still feels like me and she totally got what I was going for. She helped me place and style home accessories that I had been putting off for forever, which felt like a weight off my shoulders. Traci's eye is incredible. She just went the extra mile to make sure I had a plan in place for what I needed to do/consider when the job was done. HIGHLY recommend, I will be using her again.

This is a review of services by Traci Shields of Friedman & Shields in Scottsdale Az.
My wife and I contracted with Traci and her team as a result of a recommendation from friends. The contract was a $400,000 remodel of a 6000 square foot home we recently acquired in Scottsdale. Our initial meeting with Traci was in the Spring of 2016 when we began articulating the scope of the project as well as the budget. We also agreed at that time to a move in date of December 28, 2016.
We had high expectations and a strict budget which required Traci to be creative on several occasions. She couldn't just throw money at the project.
I am writing this review on December 29 and am pleased to report that we slept in our custom built bed last night exactly on schedule. I am also pleased to report that she exceeded our expectations for quality and design and stayed in our budget to the dollar.
My wife and I are pleased to recommend Traci and her team without reservation.

As a sub contractor on this project I recognized Traci's leadership skills in directing all of the trades in meeting targeted dates to meet Clients move in timeline. Traci demonstrated sound design suggestions for the electrical work which improved appearance of each area of home where work was done. Traci was effective in keeping contractor costs within budgeted amount.

Traci quickly got a sense for our goals, budget and taste and was able to present ideas and suggestions for each step in a simple format to enable quick decisions to keep on track and on budget. We were also advised well on where it makes sense to splurge and where it's better to keep costs down. Working remotely was really easy and Traci was responsive, reliable and accommodating for our schedule. The finished product is a stunning, award winning design that makes us so happy and so proud. It was also completed on time and on budget. Perhaps the most important quality is that we always trusted Traci and felt that she had unquestionable integrity and always had our best interests in mind.

Traci Shields worked with my husband and I to design, renovate and purchase all furnishings for our condominium in Scottsdale. She was an outstanding contractor and never wasted anytime in completing our project. She respected our ideas and incorporated them into the project. She also offered original ideas of her own.

Remodel of 3840 sq ft house with complete reconstruction of master bathroom, wood flooring and reconfigure of upstairs living space plus multiple other tasks. Resourceful in design suggestions with cost considerations. Interacted exceptionally well with clients and was able to suggest alternative workable suggestions when faced with difficult design and construction problems. Attentive to details and worked in an efficient manner and completed work on time and within agreed budget.
Also, provided creative design suggestions and furniture for the entire home utilizing existing art work and carpets to achieve a complete integrated and whole design statement. Provided furniture in a cost effective manner and on time.
She is an experienced design professional with an extensive depth of knowledge who communicates and interacts well with her clients.

Traci did the interior design and furnishings selection, purchasing, storage, shipping and installation for our new condo. A key challenge to this work was that Traci never saw the property until the day of the installation. Nonetheless she did an excellent job of planning the furnishings of each room. She did a particularly good job of helping us look at options for furnishings, fabrics, designs, etc. Her hands-on involvement in the installation was priceless. We felt we got excellent value in terms of our work with her and the quality and look of the furnishings we got. The only problems we had and the only reason we didn't rate the experience as 5-star was that there were errors made in the supply chain process that delayed the completion of our project. For example, the rug we received for our dining room was the wrong color (black instead of orange), the sectional was too short on one side, and the window covering for one location had the wrong backing. In all cases, Traci made things right without additional cost to us. This was our second project with Traci, and we wouldn't hesitate to use her again.

We engaged Friedman and Shields for two projects in the last three years: The first was to combine two homes into one and do a kitchen remodel. The second was to furnish and decorate a summer home 125 miles away. In both instances, we felt that Traci and her team addressed our goals, personalities, and budgets in delivering a final product that was much more than we had imagined. Traci makes very good use of both our time and hers as well as that of her team. We had been concerned about a project 2 hours away but everything came together without a hitch and it was no problem at all. Traci is delightful to work with and we can heartily recommend Friedman and Shields!

My experience with this company was fantastic. Tracie Shields met with me to discuss my thoughts and she listened to everything I had to say. From that point forward, she made thoughtful choices and suggestions based on my budget. I was never under any pressure to upgrade to more expensive items and she made every effort to find the least expensive option without sacrificing quality. Her construction team was organized and everything was completed in accordance with the timeline she provided. My questions were answered timely and completely. My house was on a lock box during the process and the crew was respectful to my home. I was very happy and satisfied with Friedman & Shields.

Traci Shields and her team provided light construction, interior design, and furnishing for our home in Scottsdale. We are absolutely thrilled with the results! Traci's recommendations for our project were spot on. She knew better than we did regarding what was needed and vision for the finished project. She did a brilliant job mixing our traditional style with the Southwest home we purchased. We live out of state and felt completely informed and easily made decisions with the information Traci provided. I can confidently say with Traci and her team on the job I knew each detail would be handled perfectly. Traci respected our budget and made several suggestions to keep costs in line and prioritize expenses. For example, our very worn kitchen was revitalized with a paint treatment rather than replacing cabinets. I took a leap of faith with her on this and it's one of my favorite parts of the house now. Traci has an amazing gift and talent for completely understanding our "style" and making it a reality. I give her my highest recommendation and confidence.

We bought a house in AZ with several things that we didn't really like. Traci came in and identified numerous things to change to our home, that made it ours. She helped us with the furniture and accessories and she did a fantastic job doing things that we would not have thought of. She is very efficient and easy to work with. We were very very satisfied with her expertise, efficiency, enthusiasm, knowledge and attitude. We were so satisfied that we have asked her to help us with a home that we will be building late this fall in MN. We would highly recommend Friedman and Shields for any building/remolding projects.

I cannot say enough good things about Traci! What a great designer, wonderful person and a joy to work with. We first met Traci when we started to build our custom home. She made suggestions to the architect that improved the design of our home and helped us throughout the building process to select all of our finishes and colors. Traci helped us with furniture selections and designed some custom furniture pieces for us. We still love the outcome of the finished design and would NEVER have been able to complete our home without her help. Traci is such a professional - quick, efficient and an expert in her profession. The most recent client we worked with together was purchasing a second home from me in Scottsdale. Traci and her team met us at the property to determine how to make some changes to the floorplan, if it was feasible and what costs to expect.

We are so happy to be working with Traci and her experienced team at Friedman and Shields. Traci familiarized herself with our specific furnishing taste, colors and design before beginning our projects. Our projects involved installing hardwood flooring, ceilng fans, vanity mirrors, updating all the metal hardware, purchasing furnishings for inside and out, painting, having custom beddings made, selecting unique accessories, and coordinating all the colors and styles. She coordinated with her qualified contractors to complete the many projects we had scheduled. She is knowledgeable and experienced in finding the furnishings we needed and the quality of her selections is the best. We've always been involved in the final selections and have been very happy with all the work she has done with us. We've worked well together and she's continued to keep us updated on budget changes. It's been a pleasure to have Traci and her colleagues leading us through this design process.

We moved to Arizona permanently from Canada in 2005 but had never built a home so were as naive as it's possible to be. We hired an architect and a builder to design a 5000SF home on a 3-acre hillside lot with spectacular views. We then hired Friedman & Shields as Interior Designers however they proved to be so much more. They substantially modified the architect's designs throughout the home making the actual layout very much more functional and making far better use of the views. Their recommendations for ceiling treatments, lighting, colors, hard materials, fabrics, furnishings etc. were wonderful and seven years later we still love them all. Traci and her colleagues were great to deal with and very patient with we neophytes.

Found Friedman & Shields on-line and really liked their work. I have been very pleased with their ability to listen & ask about my preferences and then to offer choices to bring a cohesive design within budget. While the finished product is not yet complete, I know it's going to be stellar.
