Gröning Arkitekter

Gröning Arkitekter is a small design studio in Copenhagen, which is highly specialized in urban planning and housing. One of the main themes of the studio is 'the flexible apartment’, which allow many different demographics within the apartment's overall structure and can contain the many types of housing, the market demands. The homes are prepared with great diversity in plans and facades. Gröning Arkitekter was established in 1990 by the architect, city planner and building economist Claus P. Gröning. For the past 15 years, Gröning Architects has taken a big part in the development of the city plan for Copenhagen. Sluseholmen (180.000kvm), Stigboerne (55.000kvm), Amager Strand (140.000kvm), IrmaByen urban project in Rødovre (135.000kvm), and just finished the master plan for a new part of the city, a reclaimed industrial harbour site of Enghave Brygge (280.000kvm). For the past 25 years, Gröning Arkitekter has created large housing projects, recently: Grönings Have, part of the canal city at Sluseholmen, the canal city at Stigboderne, Hammershøj and Hammershave in Helsingør, private houses by the beach on Strandvejen, city-blocks, high-rises (Nordtårnet) and row-houses at Amager Strand (Strandhusene), Langbohus at Artellerivej, offices and apartments at Strandvejen and Spritfabrikkerne in Roskilde. The prime force of the studio is to work with urban planning in the former harbour areas and with private housing in general. The studio has created projects internationally as well, in Sweden, Germany, Bulgaria and China.
