Jeffrey's work was exceptional in every way -- the planning, the communication, the execution and followthrough. I have worked with (and for) many contractors and builders; Jeffrey and his team are better than anyone else with whom I've had contact. The level of attention to detail and professionalism that he elicits from his team is the best I've seen. All this said, however, the aspect of Jeffery's work that most stands out is his artful, elegant design. Usually when someone is so good at what they do, they will not hear the client, not so with Jeffrey and his team.

Jeff designed and built our dream house, which we didn't realize until he conceived it with us! Nearly 10 years later, we still consider the home to be our "happy place," one which constantly brings us joy and peace. Somehow, Jeff navigated our design disagreements with calm elegance, always getting us to a place of mutual happiness in his flexible and patient manner. When we decided we wanted to "buy American," Jeff took on the challenge enthusiastically. Jeff has excellent taste, and is always considerate of the environment, of the locale and of the aesthetic. We are thrilled to call Jeff a good friend, a rare feat given the usual builder-client relationship.

We have worked with Jeffrey on multiple projects, most notably a multi-phase renovation of our 1920ish urban rowhome. Jeffrey is both highly creative and also highly efficient -- he listened to our needs and constraints, and designed solutions that were both highly functional and absolutely gorgeous. I love love the work he did for us and have recommended him without hesitation to several friends and neighbors as well.

Jeffrey did a renovation of our apartment in Brooklyn last summer. He was patient and methodical in making sure we both understood each other and that the objectives and goals of the project were clear. He consulted me along the way on all decisions big and small and the base project was completed on time and on budget (and we had a tight 3-month schedule for completion!). He and his team were super attentive, responsive, and conscientious. Construction and renovations are always stressful endeavors, but Jeff and his team were enjoyable to work with and made it as stress free as possible (translation: any stress was from the inevitable dust and not the contractor!). It's a year later and when I have a question about something he still responds. I highly recommend Jeff.

Following a major flood in our home, we were faced with a very overwhelming and unexpected rebuild project. Jeffrey provided a level of expertise and guidance that has been unprecedented in my experience working with contractors, architects, or designers. He provided technical expertise on matters related to heating, flooring, insulation, furniture, and color. His style is beautiful and artistic. He is decisive in a way that makes the process painless. His sense of color transformed our house. Jeffrey hand-built our dining room table, coffee table, media cabinet, desk, and side tables using reclaimed wood and steel. His workmanship transformed our house. His work is incredible and he is an absolute pleasure to be around. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I have worked with Jeff McMahon on many design/build projects. He is attuned to working with the topography and the sun when siting his houses. He consults closely with his clients when planning their modernist houses, and finds sustainable solutions for them. He listens to their needs and does as much as possible on paper and computer before breaking ground. When construction starts, Jeff and his crew are focused and efficient. The result is a track record of many striking and beautiful homes, as well as extremely happy homeowners. I can’t recommend Jeffrey McMahon Design + Build highly enough.
