I was excited to find a Canadian furniture retailer. We have purchased a number of small items in the last few years, and have decided to order a bedroom set for our master. And from the start the experience was a huge disappointment - the delivery driver refused to offload the items until an additional payment was made due to weight, and while that was eventually sorted out it took 45 minutes of phone conversations and unnecessary stress. When we unpacked the three pieces we ordered, all three had manufacturing defects. Granted this is not to blame on the middle man here, and modern karibou had agreed to replace 2 damaged pieces and repair the other, but the ignorance of the customer service was fascinating. It has now been 2 months (!), and nothing has been done. We received our furniture initially within 2 weeks of placing the order, so the 2 months wait right now is a mystery, and no one is communicating with us to provide any kind of update. We are still waiting and waiting and waiting apparently. The service guy that was hired to repair the damage is a whole other story, I am not even sure how he was found to be hired for the job. There was nothing easy or pleasant about ordering furniture from here, and I prefer to feel appreciated as a customer rather than an inconvenience.

We are very sorry to see this review of our customer service as we take pride in working with our customers to ensure they are happy with their overall experience with us. We appreciate this feedback but we feel more negative feedback should have been directed to the supplier as this was a warranty issue and we did everything we could to move things along as quickly as possible. We also communicated with the customer on a regular basis to provide updates on the situation. Unfortunately, there were several reasons for the delayed delivery of the replacement night tables but the main one being that a different shipping company was used which took an additional 3 weeks. As for the Fedex delivery guy requesting more money to offload the items, we were as surprised as the customer and would have rectified the situation right away had we been notified before the customer contacted Fedex directly.

Two things resulted from this situation. The first one was that we stopped using the repair company mentioned by the customer because we take feedback we receive very serioulsy and the second one is that we communicated our dissatisfaction with our supplier's management team on several occasions for this particular situation which resulted in them reviewing their entire process for replacement orders.

We LOVE shopping at Modern Karibou for three strategic and key reasons: Their products are researched and very well edited, always with quality in mind; their customer service is impeccable, timely and always authentic and; IT"S A CANADIAN company!!! PS: their shipping options work well and we have never had any problems with backorders or delays.

I've ordered through their website on a number of occasions, for both personal and professional projects, and each time I have received outstanding customer service. Their selection of modern furnishings for the home, and highest quality baby and children's items leads me back to their website each and every time. Carole (founder and president) is hands-on with customers, and goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide a WOW experience. I highly recommend Modern Karibou as one of the BEST online retailers for modern decor in Canada.
