Matt Nelson from Nelson Design Associates is the epitome of creative, imaginative design. We have an unusual yard where the back half is an upward hill with access to a beautiful 80 ft. grassy, flat easement. Our dream for quite a few years has been to have stairs/steps inserted to make that climb up there a lot easier. Matt came to assess the yard and get a “lay of the land” so to speak. He began by taking copious measurements and pictures. Listening to our ideas, Matt was great with suggesting various outcroppings, layouts, plants and stone. A few weeks later, we were blown away by his innovative and ingenious design. He incorporated beautiful flagstone along with a gorgeous design for a brick/stone patio that I’ve been dreaming of. Sitting in our kitchen, Matt explained in great detail all the different plants that would be used to complete the landscape. We eagerly anticipate running up and down our new steps soon! I would not hesitate to enthusiastically recommend Matt Nelson. In a nutshell, Nelson Design Associates ROCKS!

Matt was hired to create a landscape design plan for our whole yard. He came out, listened to our likes , dislikes, and objectives. Matt clarified and suggested items, took pictures, and measurements. He then went back to his office and created a wonderful design incorporating everything we liked. Matt worked within our schedule for the presentation visit, and took the time to walk through all elements of the design. I highly recommend Matt to do the same for you. I can't wait until we can begin phasing in Matt's recommendations.

Matt was professional and courteous from the start! His knowledge of plants is great and we are extremely pleased with the way that everything turned out. Matt listened to our plant/color needs and came up with a design that was perfect for our house. Nelson Design Associates provided professional and timely designs to redo our home landscaping which included alternative and attractive ideas in dealing with a large existing patio area. Matt Nelson was available and responsive to our requests. Plant product was good quality. We have been very satisfied with the results of Nelson Design Associates.

Matt, the owner, came out to our house to design a landscape plan for our back yard. He took detailed notes and within a week he came back to our house with the design. He incorporated all of requests. His creativity and knowledge were amazing. He sat with us and showed every flower and plant he intended to use. He also recommend a company to help fix an issue that needed to be done before we started our yard. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!!

After years of having landscape envy, I finally have people stopping by my house and commenting on how wonderful my yard looks. Matt did a great job of transitioning a very dated design into something to be proud of. Having dealt with seepage in our house, Matt also helped design a drainage system and also create a beautiful landscape feature in doing so.
