Founded in 1997, RBL Architects is a design firm dedicated to fulfilling the needs of the client, the space, and the market. By working together, our goal is to produce a design that is a thoughtful, effective, distinctive, and intelligent solution. Ultimately, what we do best is listen to our client’s needs and solve their problems. Whether it is an issue with the functionality or layout of their existing space, need for additional space or solutions to deal with the age and aesthetics of a property, we pride ourselves on being able to work in different architectural styles to suit the client, the context and the project budget. The firm’s principal, Richard Levey, is a registered architect with over twenty-five years of experience in the field. Working with clients in the Boston area and abroad, he has been responsible for a variety of projects including single family homes, restaurants, spas, large-scale adaptive reuse and corporate interiors projects. He maintains active architectural registrations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and is a member of NCARB and the US Green Building Council. We tried several times to get a project started and wasted several thousand dollars just trying to get a handle on the scope of a renovation to our 1938 classic, but dated brick home in Brookline. Not until we met Rich did our dream come to fruition. He came to our home, took pictures, measured, and then went to work. He proposed a modification to our small (dark) kitchen, dining room, and under utilized den, into an large, bright open space, with a giant kitchen and dining room. We removed two internal walls, added large windows to view our modest backyard and vastly upgraded the usefulness of our first floor. He had great vision and we will now make great use of this space. Lastly, we are confident we will recover our entire investment when we sell our home. See the picture below. I don't have a before picture handy. Trust me: old, dated, and dark! If you're looking to update an older home, I can't speak more highly of Rich.

It was great working with Rich. Not only was he was creative in solving the problems we had, but he also made sure to consider other factors that we hadn't. Every detail was thought through, and the contractor was impressed with the level of detail in the plans Rich provided. Rich made sure to check in on the project as it was underway, and was available to troubleshoot when issue arose. All told, the new space is a total dream, and we're grateful Rich helped us make it happen.

Rich was incredibly valuable in the planning and renovating stages of our near-gut home renovation. During the design, he was very thoughtful about our lifestyle and the "flow" of how we use our home. We had to do a number of permitting and zoning meetings and approvals with the town, through which he was engaged and received accolades from the town boards for his strong and thoughtful designs. During the renovation, he provided money-saving troubleshooting working with our contractors, and also served as an incredible sounding board for me while I ran the project (and also worked full-time and we were in COVID lockdown!). Rich brings a keen design sense to architecture and is a strong adviser throughout the renovation process. I cannot recommend him enough.

My husband and I hired Rich to design our new kitchen, powder room, mudroom, garage and upstairs office. Working with a Cape house built in 1937, there were many challenges. Rich was amazing in designing a beautiful, functional space that we really enjoy. Not only does Rich possess a great expertise and knowledge in his field, he is also the nicest guy you could ever ask to work with. He always listened to what we were interested in and produced an amazing house that we will enjoy for many years.

Rich is a talented architect and unique in the field that all his project come to completion. He is able to tailor design projects to all budgets. He is very astute of the complexities to building codes and regulations, and still able to bring the high level of creativity to his projects. He is able to blend modern components of construction into any traditional New England home. Architecture is a constantly changing field and Richard stays current.on all the newest trends. I highly recommend RBL architects, and I enjoy working with him.

I recently worked alongside Rich on a large scale extension/renovation project. Right from the get go, Rich listened attentively to the client’s wish list and was able to meld the differing styles of the husband and wife into a functional and beautiful space that fit with their aesthetic and budget. Rich has terrific vision and the team was thrilled with the end result. I would highly recommend Rich and would, in a heartbeat, work with him again on a future project.

We hired Rich to design a two-story addition, including a new kitchen, walk-in pantry, updated mudroom, guest bedroom and bath, and a four season room. Rich’s design surpassed our expectations and has transformed our home and the way we live. Of greatest value to us was Rich’s ability to marry form and function. Rich created a beautiful design that was seamlessly integrated with our existing home and is now the place where our family gathers. He is a versatile architect and we would recommend him to any homeowner without reservation.

We used RBL to design a screen porch addition to our home. The challenge was that we were constrained by the existing footprint of a deck that was already up against the allowable setbacks. Rich knew the rules, regulations, and codes. But his real contribution was working to creatively maximize the space and build a room that 100% looks as if it was in the original plans for the house. He suggested moving an existing set of stairs that we just could not Visualize and this feature is now one of our favorite visual aspects of the project. His plans and drawings were easily interpreted and executed by our contractor. Rich is a professional and a pleasure to work with on projects. We highly recommend RBL.

Kommenterade: What is that concrete looking wall made from?It's a chiseled stone tile that was available from Stonesource many years ago. I don't know if anything is made currently that is similar.
