Founded in 1989 on the guiding principles of quality construction, traditional craftsmanship and a commitment to customer service, the firm is recognized as an industry leader throughout eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey. While providing both new and remodel custom design and construction services for residential, commercial and public/non-profit clientele, the firm has developed a seasoned staff of in-house tradesman and a dedicated team of top-tier subcontract specialists. The company has a proven record of managing complex, challenging projects and providing cost-effective building solutions. R. J. Doerr Company is perhaps best known for the successful completion of numerous commissions, funded both privately and publicly, in historic preservation, restoration and rehabilitation. This body of work includes many National Register and National Historic Landmark properties. The firm is often called upon to both design and construct period-sensitive additions to historic residential structures.

Zero stars. Bob Doerr worked for our family on an extensive renovation project over the course of several years at a cost that exceeded seven figures. There was extensive re-work, cost overruns for budgeted work, excessive charges for resolving issues that were 'unforeseen.' We contacted Bob in 2019 because we are having substantial difficulty with the work he did, still, after all the effort and expense we incurred, and he simply stated that he had sold his business, was retired, and had no intention to do anything for our family. We would not recommend hiring RJ Doerr, who according to himself, is no longer responsible for running his company, to do any work of any description. One of Bob's five star reviews is written by the architect who Bob refers his clients to. If you leave a review on Houzz, you have to stipulate that you do not work for the service provider. While an architect may be an independent professional, the architect who posted the review is employed on RJ Doerr's projects by direct request. A perfect example of what you can expect from RJ Doerr Company.

We had the great pleasure of working with Bob, his superlative foreman Mark, and the rest of his stellar crew over a period of roughly a year and a half. During this time our lives were disrupted by unexpected illness, yet we persevered with the project--something that would have been unthinkable had we contracted with a less professional, less respectful outfit. Bob is a gentleman with years of experience doing high-end work. He adhered to our architect's design, and the results are everything we'd hoped for and more.

R.J. Doerr Company is an extremely talented and well organized architectural restoration and general contracting firm. My design firm of Eclectic Architecture has worked with R.J. Doerr Co. for many years on many successful projects and will continue to do so at every opportunity. Their craftsmanship is high quality, their people are terrific and their work product exceeds expectation.

I have hired RJ Doerr many times over the years, for extensive renovation of two houses and both normal maintenance and corrective work (work performed by other contractors which failed to meet standard). I can't speak highly enough of R.J.Doerr, for the quality of the work itself (which is of primary importance) but also the pleasure of interacting with him and his crew--highly professional, efficient, respectful, and clean (!). Experience, ability, and sheer talent really show here. You may pay a little more, but you get so much more for what you pay. And that translates into long term savings.
