You might say that the "roots" of Ed Sage's business, Sage Landscape Contractors and Tree Experts, are firmly grounded in his lineage. Born into a family of Welsh descent, his ancestors were among the first to settle in the Warren-Watchung region of Somerset County, New Jersey, and served the local community working as farmers, builders, educators, and dentists. The original Sage homestead consisted of 240 acres in Warren, and although modern-day residences have since been constructed on the old historic property, the original farmstead house remains. To this day, much of Ed Sage’s family still resides in the area and his father, Ed Sage Jr., carries on the agrarian tradition by maintaining a "gentleman's farm" on his property. Inspired by his family's history and heritage, Ed pursued a study of landscape architecture at Rutgers University. In the 1980s, he established his company, Sage Landscape Contractors and Tree Experts. The business has been in operation for nearly 30 years and is an important resource for homeowners in central New Jersey seeking professional outdoor design, landscaping, and tree care services. Ed and his team bring extensive knowledge and a keen sense of design to all of their clients' projects, helping to maximize the value of both their home and property.

Excellent, quality work from Sage Landscaping! Complete renovation of front and side yards including removal of existing lawn, shrubs, and front and side walkways. Sage removed and resurfaced the areas, created two new walkways, added sod and beautiful shrubs and trees. Estimates were immediate and accurate, and Ed Sage is a talented planner who "saw" the final product, described it to us, and had his staff accurately execute on his vision. Ed's staff is efficient, hard-working, and tidy - each day the premises were left clean and in order. Sage's office staff, especially Pamela, is helpful and responsive, as is Ed Sage. We're delighted with the final product and highly recommend Sage Landscaping!

We've enjoyed working with Ed Sage and Sage Landscaping for 20 years spanning across two residential homes. Our projects have ranged in size from less than $1,000 to very substantial in size (pool installation, entire property landscaping, retaining walls, etc). Regardless of the size of the project, the knowledge, experience, attitude and professionalism of the entire Sage Landscaping team has CONSISTENTLY been of the highest standard. Ed and his team have provided top notch guidance and support with many different aspects of our homes, including new construction projects, driveways, patios, walkways, drainage issues, even emergency weekend calls with basement flooding! Whenever there is a need or problem, Sage is the first person we call! The enjoyment we have in the exterior of our home is largely due to the incredible work by Sage Landscaping.

We bought our house in 2009 and it was newly built. It was in need of some serious landscaping. We hired Sage Landscape Contractors to do the work for us. Since then, we have hired them to be the General Contractor on our pool being built, along with leveling off the backyard, putting in a waterfall for the pool, adding an outdoor patio and kitchen. The first thing people notice when they come to the pool is the landscaping. They also built a decorative wall around the front side of the house and laid blue stone on our front walk. We have been very pleased with their work and their attention to detail. Due to the weather, we have run into some issues at times and they have been very quick to respond to help us fix the problem. We are very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them to anyone. We continue to work with them for all our landscaping needs, snow removal and masonry work.

We have worked with Sage on various projects in our yard. We installed a new pool with all new landscaping that provided our yard with a lot of privacy. We completed other projects (Between 2007 and 2014) where we installed paver patios, a built-in grill, fire pit, new drainage systems and a sitting wall. Their crew even re-stood a stone column that was knocked down by a car running into it! Of course these projects would not be complete unless we had ground lighting installed around the entire property. Sage Landscape Contractors completed all of these projects and many others to our complete satisfaction. They are professional and provide a very high quality service. There is not one service you may need that they can not handle in any home.
