Nancy is an outstanding architect and interior designer. I have done two homes with her and both are standouts both for their style and construction but also as integrated homes.

We recently had the good fortune of being introduced to our architect Nancy Scheinholtz. Having done two previous remodels on our home with the same architect we felt we needed to have a new eye look at our design given the scope of work.After our initial meeting, we knew Nancy was going to be our choice. While walking through the home she highlighted areas that could be changed to enhance lighting, privacy, and efficiency. We also had challenges due to the improvements being on the first floor and the need to support the second floor when load bearing walls were being moved. In addition, we were not able to add square footage because we already had the maximum allowed.Nancy, designed the space and was able to secure a permit in the least stressful and timely manner. During the process, we felt Nancy was our advocate, not only with the city of Palo Alto but with our contractor and structural engineer.Nancy’s attention to detail was very helpful with our contractor, including but not limited to, cabinetry layout, painting colors, marble fabrication and lighting plan. Her plans and specifications left out any ambiguity with our expectations for the build out. When issues came up she was available immediately to intercede on our behalf.If asked, would we recommend Nancy? Without question the answer is yes. Furthermore, if we had another project we would definitely use her again.

First and foremost, Nancy is absolute joy to work with! She has the perfect mix of the drive to create an amazing final product that matches your vision and style, tempered with the realities of budget and construction surprises that can pop up. Early on in working with her, I have been her client on a brand new 3000+ sq ft beach house (where she and I were both remote from the jobsite), a San Francisco city view condo gut remodel, and most recently, a startup office remodel. In each of these, I've had the chance to observe her versatility in design choices, flexibility while working with other trade professionals, and strong representation of my core goals. Each project has come out awesome and I continue to get compliments on the spaces years after completion!

My wife and I worked with Nancy as our architect and interior designer for remodeling a new bathroom, office, and master closet for our home. We were very lucky to have her help on what must have been a small project for her. For our initial meeting, Nancy looked at our sketches, pointed out ideas we hadn't thought about, and carefully measured the house. Over the next few weeks, she produced 2 different plans, revised them based on feedback, and gave us a very reasonable cost estimate. As we proceeded, she helped us pick out tile, fixtures, lights, cabinets, mirrors, paint colors, and even helped us look for matching furniture. Her final architectural drawings were absolutely meticulous, including elevations showing the actual tile lines, cabinets, trim, and fixtures that we wanted to use. Incredibly detailed and precise. During the project, Nancy was quick to respond to questions, ordered things right on time, gave us great advice, and was able to help us work through problems when her designs were not precisely followed. She has been the one constant on a long running project, and she has felt like an advocate on our behalf. The end result has been a layout that works really well for us, a lovely modern bathroom with beautifully coordinating colors and textures, and a space that greatly enhances where we live. In short, Nancy is incredibly talented, detail-oriented, persistent, creative, and a generous person as well. We are grateful for her help, and will certainly recommend her to others looking for an awesome architect and designer.

Ms. Scheinholtz has successfully designed and overseen the remodel of our kitchen, family room, laundry room and butlers pantry. She is a creative and steady hand in what can be a stressful time for any homeowner. Her attention to detail, her knowledge of architecture, and her professional partner recommendations were spot on. I love our new kitchen and I'm grateful that Nancy was our architect. I would not hesitate to use her most professional services again, nor to absolutely recommend her to others. Nancy is a gem.

Nancy Scheinholtz was the architect for our remodel which included an addition of a new kitchen, family room, and remodel of all bathrooms. We were very pleased with Nancy's work and highly recommend her. She listened to our suggestions and made changes to the design plans as needed. She managed the project with the contractor. She advised regarding selection of materials, cabinets, hardware, flooring, tile, etc. Nancy is talented, professional, and gracious. We really enjoyed working with her.

We love to cook, and Nancy designed a kitchen that is beautiful and highly functional. She took the time to understand how we would use our kitchen, and suggested we incorporate a steam oven because she knew we would appreciate the functionality. She was right - we use it all of the time. The work triangle in the kitchen is perfect, and the dishwashers are easy to load and unload because they are close to the sink and the key cabinets. Nancy did an excellent job of designing our kitchen in a challenging space. We wanted a sliding glass door and several large windows to maximize the light and the views from our kitchen, which made it impossible to find a place where a refrigerator could fit. Nancy gave us several options to consider, and we went with her creative solution to have a refrigerator on one wall near the sink and a freezer on another. Since we open our fridge dozens of times a day and rarely use our freezer this was genius! She did an incredible job of choosing the materials, from the tile for the backsplash to the fabric for our kitchen chairs. Nancy suggested we use a durable stain-resistant fabric designed for outdoor furniture that could stand up to heavy use. It has been three years, and our cream-colored kitchen chairs are still perfect despite children using them every day because we can easily clean the fabric with soap and water when needed. Nancy prepared an extremely detailed proposal for contractors with detailed architectural drawings with measurements for everything. Everyone bidding on our project commented on how much they appreciated the detail and precision, and we received detailed bids as a result. We were confident that the bids truly reflected the cost of our project and that the contractors understood exactly what we wanted. Nancy spent hours getting the paint colors right for our project, and was willing to take the time to try several samples on the wall. Friends are constantly asking us what paints we used because they are beautiful and work perfectly together. Nancy also designed two bathrooms and a pool house for this project. All are highly functional and beautifully designed with gorgeous materials. For both the bathrooms and the kitchens, Nancy calculated the number of tiles we would need with great precision so we only paid for exactly what we needed. We enjoyed working with Nancy and were very pleased with the results of our renovation.

I have worked with Scheinholtz Associates for two extensive remodel projects on the same property. the first project went so well there was no doubt we would work with them again; and if another project comes up, we would hire them again. Nancy has a great design sense. She is responsive and worked well with the budget we agreed on; there was no haggling or nickel-and-diming over expenses. She also met all deadlines and worked well with two different general contractors. She was around all during construction and when unforeseen issues arose, she dealt with them timely and professionally. Nancy also knew the local zoning and planning ordinances and spearheaded the permit process through the building department. This was particularly important since one project required extensive engineering which the building department was concerned with. When working with Scheinholtz Associates, the office was always professional, pleasant, within budget, and within deadlines.

Scheinholtz Associates and the principal, Nancy Scheinholtz, provided expert architectural services in designing, decorating, and supervising the building of our new home. Nancy's expertise, taste, and design skills were superb in meeting the needs of our complex project of a tear-down and new home build. We wanted as large a home as possible on a relatively small lot. She worked within all of the city restrictions and handled the coordination of the approval process so that we did not have to do anything. And we wanted a traditional style home, yet with a modern floor plan and current look. She was able to design a beautiful home to incorporate all of those requests. Oh, and did I mention that we lived in Philadelphia during the entire process? No problem for Nancy, she sent us drawings and later samples of all the finishes to choose from and approve. We tried to pick a few things on our own, but her selections were always better, taking the entire appearance of the house into account. She has fabulous taste, but she doesn't push. She learned our living styles & tastes, and then showed us a several options that she thought we'd each like, whether it was appliances, tiles, paint colors, or carpeting. During construction, she oversaw that every detail of the design and specifications were met. We have lived in the new home for a year and there were several features that Nancy suggested that we have found either invaluable from a practical living standpoint or people have raved over when visiting. Who knew a staircase could create such a "wow" factor! We wouldn't have come up with those ideas without her. We can't say enough good things about Scheinholtz Associates. They can handle a large job from tear down all the way through integrated interior decoration to flow with the design of the house (an aspect we found invaluable) or a remodel (Nancy did an exemplary job remodeling our parents' home, which is how we selected her).
