Seamus altered the design of two townhouses I was ready to build so as to meet the demands of a changing Seaford market. He did a great job listening to my thoughts and managed to turn the invisible into the visible. I enjoyed the fact that he was accessible and flexible as we worked through the design changes.

The design of our new beach house is beautiful, his attention to detail is excellent, best of all he has very good building knowledge and designs within build budget. I met with Seamus after he left a mid tier prsctice in the local area, we were looking to sub divide our current property into 3. Right from the word go he listened to the objective we were looking to achieve and gave us great recommendations and feasibility plans. We chose a direction and wanted to give our input on the design and appearance and he rolls with it. Will always give ideas but respects it is your project. Seamus we very clear with costs and never moved the goal posts, we found him to be very reasonable. Since that successful project we engaged Seamus to assist in an owner builder project and design an extension and renovation on our family home which was a 100 year old home that we wanted to hold its character but push heavily along the boundary. We used Seamus' knowledge to maximise what could do, he gave us various options and walked it through the council process to achieve our building permit. This was recently finished and we are very pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend Seamus for either development projects through to high speck renovations.

We hired Seamus Walsh Design to design an extension to our heritage listed home. The home had an outdated extension which required to be knocked down and a complete re-design provided. The back of our Melbourne house was South facing so we were looking for a kitchen/ dining and living plus study extension that maximised light and complemented the existing house. Seamus provided a great design and we currently working with a Seamus to select a builder to carry out the design. We felt Seamus listened to our brief which required the following: 1. Maximize light in the new extension 2. Complement existing house 3 create a good flow and sense of space and proportion. Seamus was quick, responsive and thorough in his work.

We engaged Seamus Walsh Design after a poor experience with another Architecture firm who provided a design that was double our budget and didn't really meet our brief. Therefore, we engaged Seamus Walsh Design on recommendation from a friend and they accepted the brief, provided a great design which was on budget. Seamus managed the council submission on our behalf which included dealing with the problems that a renovation with a heritage overlay brings. Seamus also provided sound advice throughout the contract and build stage and performed periodic checks on the progress of the build throughout. I'd have no hesitation recommending Seamus Walsh Design as I found them to always put the client first and go above and beyond what you'd expect from a design firm.

Seamus Walsh is our Draftsman for the house we are currently building. He has been nothing but professional, helpful, patient & enthusiastic about our build. I have already recommended him to others & will continue to do so in the future.

Seamus was recommended through a friend of a friend, to help us work up plans for a renovation. (We have to say we are relative novices at the renovation game - we had lived in our current property for 25 years and had done a lot of redecorating and basic handy-work ourselves, but had shied away from anything major, until now.) The brief was generally to open up an internal bedroom and rear sunroom of a late 1920s californian bungalow with a new kitchen-living area, opening onto a new deck, while retaining 4 bedrooms and repurposing an old laundry to include ensuite facilities. All within the existing building perimeter and roofline, in order to keep costs reasonable. We had a few meetings on site with Seamus and a few email exchanges, and he finalised a set of detailed drawings (before and after) and also obtained the planning certificate from the local council, which took into account the heritage overlay. We developed a good rapport with Seamus, and he took a practical approach to the outcome we wanted. Seamus said our design brief was quite specific, so we didn't go through a mass of full scale design iterations, only fine tuning (after the first meeting and follow-up when we settled on the orientation of the kitchen). Seamus didn't cut corners, doing a site survey and taking pics of the whole house, not just the part we wanted to change, and also its relation with the street (in order to cover off heritage overlay constraints). We then used the drawings to get quotes from builders, and selected one to proceeded to build out the design. I think the builder we selected was a little surprised at the level of detail, including a separate lighting and electrical plan, and also a sub-floor plan, as well as all the "weasel words" to cover environmentals, construction to Australian standards, etc, etc (the builder's estimator had allowed for it all). I think it was a credit to Seamus that only a few very minor details changed during the build, and certainly not enough to warrant re-engaging him (the "nuts and bolts" of the cabinetry design was one area that needed an extra level of design detail and liaison with the installer, but that is only to be expected). We enjoy our reno every day - every breakfast, lunch and dinner - and particularly when we are looking after our grand kids, and wonder why we didn't do it earlier. Thanks Seamus.
