I have worked with The Somogyi Group on three home projects with the last being a major renovation of a Chicago condo. All craftsmen and contractors were extremely professional and skilled. When IntraSpectrum Counseling opened its first location, we hired the Somogyi Group. Their professionalism coupled with their friendly demeanors made them easy to work with. When our company expanded to it second location, we hired the Somogyi Group again. This time they renovated an open floor plan into a welcoming reception area, six offices, and a kitchen. Clients often remark on the beauty and comfort of the space. As we are now expanding our Michigan Avenue location, we are excitedly hiring the Somogyi Group to once again design and furnish our space.

Steve & Filip redesigned our entire first floor. They built on what we had, made the space more functional, more beautiful, more US... They made our house our HOME. Here is the story of how the Somogyi Group gave us the home we needed: People involved are Me: Megan, My husband: Matt, Fabulous Designers: Steve and Filip Matt: Honey, our house is driving me insane! There's nowhere for company to sit! There isn’t a good place to sit down and eat! There’s nowhere to hang my coat! I lost my man-room in the basement! I can't stand being home! Me: (Ring ring...) Hey Steve, we need your help, desperately. We've lived here in this beautiful house for 5 years, but we CANNOT get the layout right. My husband hates being home, and I am out of ideas for how to make this work! Steve: I love a design problem! Let's do this!! (a short time later) Steve: OK, Matt and Megan, here are my ideas for the best way to solve the problems you're experiencing, and to bring organization, functionality, and joy into the design of your home. We can repurpose lots of your furniture, and also recommend the purchase of a few important pieces that you're missing. Matt: You know what? I normally get nervous about stuff like this, but I say go for it. Do everything you want. Here's the budget I'd like you to stick with... will that work? Steve: We can make that work. Me: (Oh my gosh, yes yes thank you yes) (a couple months later, and the job is complete) Me: (tears in my eyes) Oh my gosh. My home!!! Look at this living room! This kitchen! That reading nook! All the gorgeous and cozy colors! Matt: (eyes wide and a smile on his face): Well, heck! We got a new house! These guys are really good. I wish we’d had them do every room! High fives and hugs all around. To summarize, Steve and Filip heard our problems, identified some we hadn't realized, presented exciting solutions, and because we completely gave them the reigns and let them do their thing, were able to create for us a place that meets exactly what our family needed. I couldn't be more grateful to Steve and Filip for their excellent taste, talent and time and attention to every last detail. Matt and I both are so happy to be home. And I just have to gush about this... our new family continues to knock my socks off. I see it out of the corner of my eye and I have to go back and smile at it. I sit on our new couch surrounded by the warm colors and I just can't stop smiling. It looks so beautiful. It feels so cozy. It is the perfect space for family and guests. I just love it.

We didn’t know what to expect when we moved from our large suburban home to a smaller sized newly constructed duplex condo in Wicker Park. We eliminated as much as we could, and wanted to change our style completely since our suburban house was warm but dated. Steve and Filip worked with us on every aspect of our condo. They visited us at our suburban home in order to understand how we lived and what pieces we could re-purpose in the new space. Functionality was just as important as looks since space was at a premium. They presented contemporary ideas that were both practical and beautiful. Their collaborative approach to design makes them unique -- they didn’t tell us what we should do but instead made it a point to understand our needs before providing several creative suggestions for each room. We were able to pick and choose what we liked. They envisioned the final product in a way we never could have imagined! Every room ties together into one harmonious space as opposed to individual rooms. Our new condo is our sanctuary -- so warm, inviting and comfortable! When the remodeling of my beautiful vintage flat in Ukrainian Village was complete I was delighted and impressed. Putting absolute trust in Filip and Steve's expertise and impeccable esthetics, my two bedroom apartment was enhanced with a brand new home office, a stunning living room and mood lighting throughout. With genuine care they listened to my vision, provided stellar feedback, added creative ideas and direction. When the project was under way the work was completed efficiently and right on the budget. I was thrilled with their clever repurposing of art pieces and furniture throughout the entire living space. The end result was so good I only wished I have done it sooner. Modern vintage with subtle industrial touches made my work area inviting and bright. The new living room became lush with colors and comfort. Most importantly, they made my home feel so much more embracing and welcoming ~ an uber cool place I can't wait to get back to every time I leave.

Being an artist, I know this reveals my bias, but Steve and Filip are among the elite interior designers who are placing original artwork by serious artists in their projects. They've bought my paintings for clients as well as used it to style photos. The attached image shows "Riven", a 50" x 50" oil and beeswax on panel. I've gotten to know their design philosophy as eclectic, unpretentious, creative and individualized to each client. On top of that, Steve and Filip are genuinely generous and caring people who want to make the world a better place. This is evident not only in their volunteer and charity work, but in the amount of thought they give to using repurposed and sustainable materials. And by supporting local artists! :-)
