Doug just completed a dining room table top for us and we are very happy! He was extremely responsive, listened to what our needs were and delivered exactly what we wanted! He communicated every step of the way. Doug is wonderful to work with, a perfectionist about his craft, and I would definitely recommend him.

We just wrapped up our first project with Doug. I cannot overstate our level of satisfaction with his work. He produced what is essentially an exact copy of a fine and detailed piece of furniture, and he did so to a level of exactitude that places him squarely at the top of his craft. The quality of his workmanship is simply outstanding. Moreover, he was very responsive and easy to work with. We look forward to working with Doug again.

We found Turner Custom Furniture via the Internet. We wanted a custom bar/liquor cabinet, and sent Doug our specifications. He was very easy to work with and created a beautiful cherry cabinet for us. His workmanship is detailed, and we love this piece he created.

Doug did a tremendous job on my standing, craftsman style jewelry and lingerie chest. He is the true merger between craftsman and artist. It is an heirloom that will be passed on for generations I am sure and he took great care to make sure it was just what I wanted. I would hire him again in a minute for any project!

I hired Doug Turner to build, and help design, a custom bookcase. I started with a Century Furniture item that I mostly wanted to duplicate, and he was adamant about creating something with an all-around design of its own, while using its main characteristics for inspiration. At the very start, Doug was very helpful in explaining these concepts in depth: fundamental aspects of design (especially balancing); names of sections of furniture and their purpose; and even the origins (Roman and Greek) of traditional designs. Having no experience in creating my own furniture, I was a bit overzealous and wanted to throw in many different types of decoration, and Doug was good in reigning them in, and tapering them down to create a beautiful piece without any design flaws. Doug's company was a good match for me, mainly because of his knowledge and expertise, patience, and reasonable pricing.

After many years wanting a bookcase for my office, with a nautical theme, I found Doug Turner on Etsy. My late brother-in-law, Mark was an artisan and master cabinet maker who sold his art on Etsy. He told me that the artists on Etsy cared very much about what they did. Doug is one of those artisans. I found him while looking at images of bookcases. Up came a mahogany bookcase that was beautiful. I emailed Doug and asked him if he could build me one with some slight changes (mostly dimensional changes). He promptly sent me a drawing and we discussed the project. We agreed on a price and time frame. He followed through on every promise (not very common these days) and after seeing photos of the project underway, I was so thrilled that I ordered a solid black walnut tabletop for a dining table that I had built years ago and never got around to building a proper top. I discussed using butterflies in the table top to pull together any knots or irregularities in the wood grain. He got the idea. I trusted him to be tasteful in this application. I could have had. The pieces shipped, but I drove 16 hours to pick up my finished furniture, mostly so I could meet the man to whom I entrusted this project. I am so glad I did. Doug is really committed to the highest standards. The bookcase and tabletop are beautiful. The butterflies in the tabletop were tastefully placed, not over done and it is beautiful. The bookcase is already filled with books in my office and it, too, is beautiful. His finishing process is second to none. More orders will be on the way!

My husband and I did not have a good experience with Turner Custom Furniture. We commissioned the company to build a Hope Chest to hold our deceased daughter's treasured items. We paid the company $700 to create a rendering based on pictures of an antique chest we liked. We then paid for the materials, Turner Custom Furniture built the chest, and did not follow the design we had all agreed upon. We asked them to make three changes to the chest and they refused. So, we still do not have a Hope Chest. It's been over two years and I have finally saved the money I lost to this company. Can anyone recommend a reputable furniture builder in the Atlanta area? (July 3, 2014) I am updating this review based on Mr. Turner's response below. The company did not build the chest to spec. I provided images of the original piece I loved. We all agreed upon an exact drawing (measurements, design, scroll pattern, etc), which I paid for to insure I would get exactly what I wanted. When they showed us the piece, we nicely pointed out a couple of mistakes and things went sour from there. None of that will be in email form. It occurred over the phone and at the shop. However, I am happy to provide houzz with our emails and images. Between the drawing and the deposit, we invested quit a bit of money in this piece. Obviously, we only walked away because of our disappointing experience. Even if we had paid more money for their mistakes, we had little confidence we would end up with the piece we had commissioned. I did not agree to giving the company creative license. We all agreed upon a drawing I paid for and images I provided. I will not pay beyond that agreement. If you know exactly what you want (size, dimensions, pattern, etc), then you will want to find another company that can build you a truly custom piece of furniture.

I am very pleased with the furniture Turner Custom Furniture made for me. They designed and created two beautiful standing desks that look great and function exactly as I had hoped. Doug Turner is an artist and a craftsman in the best tradition. He was also very professional during the process. He kept me advised and involved while the furniture was being created, and produced everything on time without sacrificing quality. He truly cares about his work and his clients. I hope to add several more pieces of his furniture to my home and office soon.

We had Doug build a custom desk for out house. To say he exceeded our expectations is an understatement. The attention to detail is second to none and we couldn't be happier with the design and final product. I would recommend him to anyone.

I commissioned Turner Custom Furniture to design and build a large bookcase for my home office. Doug listened carefully to what I wanted, made some drawings, refined those in consultation with me, and then put the piece together. Throughout Doug kept me informed as to his progress. I'm very happy with the result, which is solid, neatly constructed, richly stained, and sympathetic to the rest of my furniture. I cannot recommend this company highly enough and would definitely enlist their services again.

We commissioned Turner Custom Furniture to make 2 mahogany console tables. Doug shared pictures of the entire process beginning with the wood from which they were cut. The workmanship is impeccable! I highly recommend this company
