Whitten Design Group has provided clients with highly personal and award winning design services since inception in 1965. We have been responsible for design of hundreds of signature projects not only in Colorado but also throughout the United States. Though unique, functional custom homes have been our forte, we have been involved with projects ranging from small residential remodels to large-scale multi-family and commercial developments. Our team incorporates an extensive range of design and construction backgrounds to assist in all aspects of design. Design Philosophy: Whitten Design Group provides innovative design strategies, which translate our clients’ vision into viable projects. Our extensive experience allows us to create projects which successfully resolve the required economic and aesthetic issues. From conceptual design through construction detailing, we provide a high level of service allowing our clients to realize projects of singular distinction.

Karl Whitten designed our home in 2015 and we still get rave reviews for the design. We downsized to the perfect size, layout and flow while achieving an ascetically pleasing design. The entire team was very helpful with the planning department and our builder. Overall, we were and are very pleased.

This is a first rate team of professionals. They are very close listeners and are able to translate onto paper all of the wishes and dreams of my clients in a beautiful and highly functional home plan. Their fees are reasonable and they deliver in a timely fashion. Best design firm I've worked with and I have worked with many.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Karl and Lisa Whitten to photograph dozens of projects they have completed over the years, and was so impressed with the quality of their work and the variety of styles they have mastered. On a more personal level, they are both lovely people who care very much about their work and the people with whom they interact. Though I have not worked with them in a design capacity personally, I would highly recommend Whitten Design Group based on my experience with Karl and Lisa, and having seen such a wide scope of their work.

We hired the Whitten Design Group to help us design a custom home in Colorado as well as provide the construction drawings for our builder. This was the second home we have had the opportunity to work with the Whitten Design group on and they again exceeded our expectations. The two homes were considerably different in architectural style and site requirements and the folks at Whitten Design Group provided valuable and creative insight into the final design of both homes. They helped us stay well within the budget we targeted and provided great input for changes to the design in order to meet our overall project goals. They coordinated well with our builder and provided outstanding support during the building permit process that is generally challenging in the area where we built the home. We would definitely recommend them for any home design or renovation work.

In 1999 my wife and I began the process of searching and selecting who would design our new home. After investigating a dozen firms/individuals in the area we selected Whitten Design. It is a small firm that has a sharp ear/eye for the details. Karl Whitten the owner is a pleasure to work with and to date has designed two houses for our family. One that we have happily lived in since 2001 and one that will begin construction shortly. Karl has a creative, knowledgeable, pleasant, fun, and well-balanced approach to the process. He provided us with the key details so we could understand/make the necessary trade-offs, resulting in a beautiful and functional home that considered construction and ongoing costs. His research and recommendations were spot on with what we had asked/hoped for. I have and will continue to recommend Whitten Design to my dearest friends.

Karl Whitten is the most talented and creative visionary I have had the pleasure to work with over the past 20 years. Having collaborated on more than 30 custom residential projects, Karl has routinely exceeded my expectation. From preliminary site evaluations to final design details, regardless of style or genre, Karl has proven to be an essential part of every project's success. Large or small, traditional, European, Mediterranean, modern, contemporary, country or western farm house, he has done it all with unique, one-of-a-kind individuality.
