" Having it stick out like you have it makes no sense to me. "
Not only that but who wants to look at the back of a fridge and it has to be louder as well......................

Solar lights…with spook.

The kids sure are growing up, the lass is starting to look like a tween. Gorgeous outfit, your daughter must be very gifted to have crocheted that herself!
The vase is Jonathan Adler indeed. I had seen it before, but the context of a flower store made me realise it was inspired by the cactus and not the female body.
Wow, the house with the teeth is really cool!

Ahh…Adler…still weird but less macabre…have a little glimpse of Nova Scotia here on the Eastern Shore. A cruise ship was recently diverted from the Bahamas to here due to the weather. Since fall is our best season they didn’t do too badly. Don’t think they made it as far as clam Harbour Beach here however.

I would start by removing the wallpaper..,and blue walls.. which are distracting…then take a look at it again

I would definitely not DIY. Not unless you’re prepared with an estimate of what it would cost to get somebody to remove it if the DIY doesn’t work. 🤦🏼♀️

I’m sure the mirrors are a later addition, probably 1980s as you surmised. If the adjoining rooms are still original to 1938, the mirrors are an arresting contrast. I feel that libraries and sunrooms lend themselves to such contrast, dining rooms don’t. But many people do like that effect. So I’d decide based on how I want the dining room to relate to the rest of the main floor. If you DIY the removal, please please wear gloves AND goggles.

Murraysmom “she…” Violet. It’s been a bit of a saga. I adopted her and her brother on September 4. Unfortunately Ollie was not well and he didn’t make it. Two senior cats age 12 had belonged to a friend of a friend and the owner died suddenly and unexpectedly. Here is Ollie…for the record. Brother and sister, both beautiful tabbies. 💔

Alice, you should consider writing some kind of book about adventures with cats. Maybe a children’s book or a young adult book or something comedic. A cat could be the protagonist with his/her view of the human world. Seriously. You have a gift with words and have so much data to draw from. 😊

I have to say, though that I’m finally home and sitting, but I do need to fix myself some dinner. I spent all day at the kiddos house and finally finished that room that she wanted painted and green. It really turned out nice. The last wall was another big one so I knocked that out today. The other Wall has some bookshelves that we need to paint around and her garden room that she was doing in the thistle color, which is turning out nice as well. She got a lot of that done herself, but her business keeps her on the go and I know she wants to get it all done.

Alice, you landed on a potential starting point for your book - black cats and the silliness of superstition…. 🐈⬛

Horace Grump “Hmmm…who drank ALL the mead?”
“Ahem. Can we be of service?”
Ghost of turkeys past “where’s mine?”
“Cheers! To Samhain!”
The cat with the pearl earring… Perfect. I like this one…
