bulkhead the same depth as the side walls could work in your space. Drywall bulkhead — I like this one as well — clean lines.

We like the color scheme; the suttle back splash; looks a slight gray instead of plain white; the cupboards look a little plain though; I'm noticing a lot of "flat" bars as opposed to "raised" maybe we should reconsider and go with flat? Would this be more "open"? LIke the hood; like the gray floor, but might be too dark
