Thank you, you have expensive taste. It's actually hand applied silver leaf ( 4"x4" square) on top of the lacquered wood wall panels. The silver leaf was then given a patina to age it a bit and then a clear finish.The same treatment has been applied to the ceiling. I would not recommend applying this to drywall as it has a tendency to crack. This was a very laborious and expensive application but it turned out quite nicely I agree. You can see the same treatment on the ceiling using gold leaf of the clients office in the same project. There are some decent wallpapers that can give you a similar feeling for a fraction for the cost. You can check with Astek Wallcovering in Van Nuys, CA ( they have a website) they've created several custom wallpapers for me and I'm quite sure they'll have something you could use to achieve a similar look
