Although it was dark and rundown, when Guerin first took the brief for the u-shaped English-style bungalow, he could see its potential. The views of the river were magical, but the house was inward facing and there was little storage or play space for the kids – his first job was to rearrange its orientation. On the sunny, street-facing side he extended a garage and kids’ wing to wrap around the pool on one side. For the fencing, he used a mix of stacked slate on the street side and classic weatherboard to invite visitors into the house. The garage now has room to house the owner’s collectable cars, as well as the usual family toys.
