A fateful few years. A Chicago native, Espinal studied English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After college he moved to Oak Park for a few years — a town saturated with the early designs of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright — and developed an interest in architecture. “I wanted to learn more about his work, as it looked so different from the surrounding buildings,” Espinal says.
