Open shelving like this looks great - very chic matching the shelves to the wall so they blend in and you can make a feature out of the old chimney. This timber is (I’m pretty sure) covering the tv hidden behind it - maybe you could do the same? Or the TV could go on a shelf on the RHS to balance out the space. Whatever you’d use as the feature wall here, makes sure it ties into whatever you do in the kitchen.
