In this project we aimed to create a stylish garden which was both family friendly and low maintenance. Eco decking was used to create a large contemporary decking area. This composite product is slip resistant and is created using 95% recycled materials so is very eco friendly . This product is extremely low maintenance and long lasting. Rendered flower beds were built and complement the sleek and simple lines of the garden. A simplistic planting scheme has been utilised to add colour. A high quality artificial lawn was laid. This product is a great alternative for those looking for a lawn which will look lush all year round and will with stand children and animals playing on it. The slatted fence runs around the perimeter and adds warmth and texture to the space. Overall this garden is simple yet very slick.

Transforming a small, steeply sloped back garden into a functional and inviting space came with its own set of unique challenges. Careful terracing was required to create a balanced, accessible layout, while the design needed to maximise usable space by incorporating multiple sitting areas. The result is a stunning garden oasis that feels expansive and harmonious. To achieve this, the design team employed a diagonal layout grid, where each partition sits at a different level, creating a dynamic sense of depth and openness. The largest sitting area, located at the bottom of the slope, is a porcelain-paved patio seamlessly connected to the back entrance of the house. Midway up the terrace, a cosy lounging area offers a more secluded retreat, while the top level features a practical utility drying area. These levels are connected by sculptural steps crafted from staggered hardwood and metal mesh platforms, blending functionality with artistic flair. Lush evergreen planting adds softness to the structured design, creating an almost tropical atmosphere. The planting scheme enhances the garden's year-round appeal, providing a vibrant and tranquil backdrop that contrasts beautifully with the clean lines of the hardscaping. This thoughtfully designed garden demonstrates how even challenging terrain can be transformed into a versatile and aesthetically pleasing outdoor space.

This small back garden had more than its share of issues to address. From the narrow angled site, to the slope of the ground, lack of privacy, public drains, aging existing retaining walls and deck, underground electrical wiring, and difficult access, it really had it all! The clients wanted a leafy secluded spot, where they could relax, entertain and feel immersed in nature. They also wanted a small productive area for some herbs and fruit trees. A garden shed was required and a means of access through from the front garden, although privacy was to be important. The old deck was removed and replaced with beautiful vitex decking. This new deck connect the rooms of the house and wraps itself around the house, effectively managing the worst of the slope and creating clear symmetry within the angled boundaries. A central retained bed with a feature flowering cherry tree creates a generous boardwalk and makes the decking feel part of the garden. A privacy screen and considered planting increases privacy. A series of oversize platform stairs lead up to the highest part of the garden, which is filled with raised beds for vegetable and herbs and fruit trees. Generous natural schist stepping stones connect the utility area of the garden to the decked area and meander through the vege garden. The planting is designed to be leafy and green with soft white accents through the season. Beautiful feature trees include Prunus Shimidsu Sakura, Cercis Canadensis and Betula jacquemonti. Our design team was entrusted with designing a garden to complement a newly built, partially wooden, Scandinavian-style home. The distinctive architecture of the house inspired a cohesive and artistic outdoor space, tailored to the client’s practical needs and aesthetic preferences. A central requirement was to create a large sitting area directly adjacent to the house, providing a functional outdoor space while preserving a cherished rowan tree close to the property. The design revolved around a harmonious palette of black, red, orange, amber, and white—reflecting the artistic sensibilities of the client, who is a painter. To emphasise the rowan tree as a focal point, a new patio was constructed around it, blending functionality with aesthetic significance. An I-shaped decking platform, complete with a decorative pergola, was positioned in the corner of the garden, creating an additional inviting area for relaxation. The overall layout was structured around a strong visual axis leading to decorative screening on the far side of the garden. This axis was further emphasised with a combination of natural clay pearly brick pavers and stepping stones, which were carefully aligned to create a sense of continuity. Raised beds made of corten steel, in line with the chosen colour scheme, added texture and warmth to the design. The dark grey, almost black self-binding gravel and a newly painted black fence tied all elements together, ensuring visual harmony. To reduce maintenance and enhance the garden’s modern aesthetic, the lawn size was halved, with the remaining space designed to balance natural features with bold design elements. The result is a striking yet functional outdoor space that seamlessly connects the home with its surroundings, offering a blend of practicality and artistic expression.
