OVOLO InteriorsThe new custom fabric retractable awning is made from a screen type fabric to allow some light to come through so that the container garden plants still receive some sunlight. But, this also allows the awning to keep most of the direct sun off of the side of the house to keep it cool and reduce energy consumption. Here you can see the screen like material. At the right angle, you can see through it.
M.O.Daby DesignConceived more similar to a loft type space rather than a traditional single family home, the homeowner was seeking to challenge a normal arrangement of rooms in favor of spaces that are dynamic in all 3 dimensions, interact with the yard, and capture the movement of light and air.
As an artist that explores the beauty of natural objects and scenes, she tasked us with creating a building that was not precious - one that explores the essence of its raw building materials and is not afraid of expressing them as finished.
We designed opportunities for kinetic fixtures, many built by the homeowner, to allow flexibility and movement.
The result is a building that compliments the casual artistic lifestyle of the occupant as part home, part work space, part gallery. The spaces are interactive, contemplative, and fun.

OVOLO InteriorsAlthough the homeowners opted to use inexpensive folding chairs and a table so that they can be easily stored away and a car can be parked on this backyard portion of the driveway, that doesn't mean that the space can still look nice. Here, the homeowners are getting ready to throw a dinner party in the new dining space. LED lights were strung from the awning supports, the table was decorated, and a new semi-custom DIY fire bowl was made for the occasion.
