The Myers Touch designed this transitional family kitchen which formed part of a substantial renovation project on a property based in Hampshire.
Working in collaboration with Adam Knibb Architects to ensure design continuity, the owners briefed The Myers Touch that they wanted a contemporary family kitchen/dining space with a classic edge that would include 'a place for everything'. The design would also have to complement the rest of the home’s design scheme and make the most of the landscaped garden views to the rear of the property.
The owners wanted to keep the L-Shaped kitchen shape that had been conceptionally designed by the Architect, whilst making the best use of the property's feature high ceilings. The finished design had to be practical for their family needs, yet elegant and inviting and fully accessible.
The Myers Touch proposed a transitional kitchen design featuring a complimentary mix of both classic and contemporary cabinetry that would enhance the home fusions of these two styles. The design scheme was visually impactful and considered the homes environment and materials that can be seen throughout the property.
The inclusion of sleek marble effect stone worktops and a traditional Black AGA helped to provide a Classic look, whilst the flat sleek SieMatic SLX cabinetry and large central island created a modern contemporary edge to link the scheme together. The period high ceilings also allowed The Myers Touch to include vital storage with attractive high level glass cabinets.
Careful planning of the back L-shape wall was considered particularly in the corner. To maximise the space, The Myers Touch designed a niche to house the toaster, and smaller appliances that could be tucked away and were slightly hidden from view. On the back wall, The Myers Touch designed storage drawers to perfectly line up with the statement AGA. The use of glass and the reflective Bronze mirror also provided eye-catching elegance to the space, as the eye is drawn up to the ceiling, giving the illusion of space. The space also looks particularly inviting at night when the cabinetry lights are lit to provide a beautiful glow & warmth.
The custom-made extractor was designed to sit flush between the wall units either side of the AGA and features high performance twin motors and a Zinc Clad finish to provide an element of drama and connectivity of the furniture choices. Sleek 20mm Silestone ex-gloss stone in Yukon were chosen for the worktops and a statement splashback gives a soft reflection and a warming marble effect.
Continuing around the rest of the L-shaped room, the return wall displays Miele Cooking & Refrigeration Appliances that are housed in the same cabinetry that join the back run all the way to the end of the Island to fit around the architecture of the room. The kitchen furniture on these two walls use SieMatic’s SC/SE SC10 collection but Keith replaced the doors with a bespoke painted solid oak shaker style frame with stylish Buster & Punch handles in Smoked Bronze which were chosen by the client and Interior Designer.
Special display items were housed in the glass display units situated high into the ceiling. For access to those, The Myers Touch designed a functional ladder rail which can be stored in a a niche space around the corner when not in use.
To provide a softer and contrasting look in the room, Keith added a Dresser Unit to cover an old doorway which also acts as a transitional point between the kitchen and the dining space. For continuity the soft shaker style furniture is used at the bottom doors with open shelving that sit neatly into the dresser walls.
The contemporary central Island was designed using SieMatic’s SLX Cabinetry with a modern Smoked Oak Veneer finish. The angled handle profile sits on top of the units, and underneath the worktop to provide a beautiful haptic feeling that continues all the way round to provide the illusion of the 20mm Dekton worktop 'floating together'. Since the Island's plinth is set back that also provides a similar "floating off the floor" illusion.
The ease of use when preparing food and cooking, the front of the island houses the bin, sink, dishwasher and drawer storage. The other side contains storage for food mixers, freestanding baking accessories and overflow crockery. There is plenty of space to the back of the island for bar stool seating which is conveniently situated between cupboards that house oven-to table type items such as everyday crockery, place mats, condiments and napkins.
The owners also requested a large Dining Table in the space, so The Myers Touch designed one using a seamless 12mm Dekton worktop in Bergen that sits on top of a custom made steel framed table support and legs that cohesively bring the kitchen, dining & entertaining scheme together.

We’re delighted to be able to show this, our latest project in Welwyn Garden City.
More than ever, we need our homes to do so much. We want the kitchens functional and beautiful, the living areas comfortable yet practical with plenty of storage - and when it’s open plan living, like this one, we want the spaces to connect in a stylish and individual way. Choosing a supplier that creates hand built, bespoke cabinets and fitted furniture is the very best way to ensure all boxes are ticked!
In this project the kitchen and living areas have been hand built in a classic Shaker style which is sure to stand the test of time but with some lovely contemporary touches. The mirror splashback, in the kitchen, allows the natural light to bounce around the kitchen and the copper accents are bright and stylish and keep the whole look current. The pendants are from tom Dixon @tom_dixon11.
The cabinets are hand painted in F&B’s downpipe which is a favourite, and for good reason. It contrasts beautifully with their chalky Wimbourne White and, in an open plan living situation like this, it sets the kitchen area apart from living area.
At Planet we love combining two finishes. Here, the Corian worktop in Vanilla sits beautifully with the Solid oak Breakfast bar which in itself is great with a wooden floor.
The colours and finishes continue into the Living Room which unifies the whole look. The cupboards and shelving are painted in Wimbourne White with accents of the Downpipe on the back panels of the shelving. A drinks cabinet has become a popular addition to our projects, and no wonder! It’s a stylish and fun addition to the room. With doors closed it blends perfectly with the run of storage cupboards and open – no detail has been overlooked. It has integrated lighting and the worktop is the same Vanilla Corian as the kitchen. To complete the drinks cupboard a scalloped oak wine rack below has been hand built by our skilled craftsmen.

Bespoke Handleless Shaker kitchen with the main runs painted in Little Greene 'French Grey Dark' (163) and the island in Little Greene 'Basalt' (221). The Silestone Yukon worktops are 30mm thick and one end of the island is curved. The sinks in the kitchen are Silestone Integrity Due integrated sinks and the taps are by Quooker. The grey pendant lights tie in with the grey painted cabinets whilst the black 3-oven dual control AGA adds contrast.

Modern Architecture and Refurbishment - Balmoral
The objective of this residential interior refurbishment was to create a bright open-plan aesthetic fit for a growing family. The client employed Cradle to project manage the job, which included developing a master plan for the modern architecture and interior design of the project. Cradle worked closely with AIM Building Contractors on the execution of the refurbishment, as well as Graeme Nash from Optima Joinery and Frances Wellham Design for some of the furniture finishes.
The staged refurbishment required the expansion of several areas in the home. By improving the residential ceiling design in the living and dining room areas, we were able to increase the flow of light and expand the space. A focal point of the home design, the entertaining hub features a beautiful wine bar with elegant brass edging and handles made from Mother of Pearl, a recurring theme of the residential design.
Following high end kitchen design trends, Cradle developed a cutting edge kitchen design that harmonized with the home's new aesthetic. The kitchen was identified as key, so a range of cooking products by Gaggenau were specified for the project. Complementing the modern architecture and design of this home, Corian bench tops were chosen to provide a beautiful and durable surface, which also allowed a brass edge detail to be securely inserted into the bench top. This integrated well with the surrounding tiles, caesar stone and joinery.
High-end finishes are a defining factor of this luxury residential house design. As such, the client wanted to create a statement using some of the key materials. Mutino tiling on the kitchen island and in living area niches achieved the desired look in these areas. Lighting also plays an important role throughout the space and was used to highlight the materials and the large ceiling voids. Lighting effects were achieved with the addition of concealed LED lights, recessed LED down lights and a striking black linear up/down LED profile.
The modern architecture and refurbishment of this beachside home also includes a new relocated laundry, powder room, study room and en-suite for the downstairs bedrooms.

The Shaker style is perfect for modern open plan kitchens. The hand-made cabinetry of our Hartford design is beautifully crafted with balanced proportions and classic detailing such as pillars at each corner of the over-sized island. Shaker style doors and flat-fronted drawers sit within beaded frames and work surfaces are crowned in smooth Silestone for an effect that is both utilitarian and stylishly modern.

A cook’s kitchen through and through; we loved working on this modern country farmhouse kitchen project. This kitchen was designed for relaxed entertaining on a large-scale for friends staying for the weekend, but also for everyday kitchen suppers with the family.
As you walk into the kitchen the space feels warm and welcoming thanks to the soothing colour palette and Smithfield weathered oak finish. The kitchen has a large dining table with incredible views across the rolling East Sussex countryside. A separate scullery and walk in pantry concealed behind cabinetry either side of the French door fridge freezer provide a huge amount of storage and prep space completely hidden from view but easily accessible. The balance of cabinetry is perfect for the space and doesn’t compromise the light and airy feel we love to create in our Humphrey Munson kitchen projects.
The five oven AGA, set within a bespoke false chimney, creates a main focal point for the room and the antique effect mirror splashback has been installed for a number of reasons; it bounces the light back across the room but also helps with continuing conversations with guests seated at the island. This is a sociable kitchen with seating at the island to serve drinks and quick appetisers before dinner, or to sit with coffee and a laptop to catch up on emails.
To the left of the AGA is countertop storage with a bi-fold door which provides essential shelving for larger countertop appliances like the KitchenAid mixer and Magimix. Following on from the countertop cupboard is open shelving and the main sink run which features a large Kohler sink and Perrin & Rowe Athenian tap with rinse. To the right of the AGA is another countertop cupboard with a bi-fold door that not only balances the space in terms of symmetry, but conceals the breakfast cupboard which is perfect for storing the coffee machine, cups and everyday glassware.
The large island is directly opposite the AGA and has been kept deliberately clear so that cooking and preparing food on a larger scale for family or friends staying all weekend is easy and stress free. The dining area which is just off of the main kitchen in the orangery seats six people at the table and is perfect for low key dining for a few friends and weekday meals.
Directly opposite the island is a bank of floor to ceiling Smithfield Oak cabinetry that has a Fisher & Paykel French door refrigeration and freezer unit finished in stainless steel in the centre, while either side of the fridge freezer is a walk in scullery and walk in pantry that helps to keep all clutter hidden safely out of site without having to leave the kitchen and guests.
We love the modern rustic luxe feel of this kitchen with the Nickleby cabinetry on the perimeter run painted in ‘Cuffs’ and the island painted in ‘London Calling’ it has a really relaxed and warm feeling to the space, particularly with the weathered bronze Tetterby pull handles and Hexham knobs. This is the ‘new neutral’ and really about creating a relaxed and informal setting that is perfect for this beautiful country home.

Rich and warm tones, our Clovelly Old English wood effect porcelain planks replicate the look of wood beautifully. Our customer had these wood effect tiles throughout the ground floor of their home.
