Wow! If you really look at this image, it looks like the designer used an overside frame and filled it with fabric as opposed to a piece of art. You can see near the pillows of the bed, that there is the bottom of the frame. Pretty creative idea!

You know something, I was thinking that! i am in love with the concept of the frame behind the bed & think its beautiful! But I have a king size bed, I wonder where i'd begin to look for a frame that LARGE!;)

You can get frames custom made, through online catalogs or in store. If you do a quick google search, I am sure that you can find a framing company that can make a frame to your specifications. Good luck!

For the headboard you simply go to a lumber yard or home improvement outlet like HD and buy molding, any size and shape you want, miter the corners, paint, nail and you're in business. This is exactly the headboard I plan on making for my queen size bed but I will not be attaching it to the wall. I will use a piece of plywood to attach the batting and material, then attach the molding/frame to the plywood. Then attach the entire piece to the bed or the wall.

So the three different trims I see are all part of one frame? This isn't trim built up to create one frame?

No. It is one picture molding frame that I bought in 10' long sticks from a custom frame shop. I then had my contractor cut the sticks to size to make the frame for the headboard.

Janie, I've been considering placing chandeliers on either side of the king side bed also. Do you have any other pictures of this bedroom so I can see how it balances out with 2 chandeliers? Also are there rules to how high it should be hung.

The only other photo of this room still does not show the other night table and chandelier. Because of the balance in the room with the chandeliers being the same, I had the night tables be the same also rather than having them different. The height should relate tot he size of the chandelier and what is comfortable to you and good proportions.

I assume there is no window on the side of the bed not shown? That is my scenario and I have accepted that it will not be symetrical. In other words, one side will be a draped window much like the one you have here and the other will simply have the same/matching night stand with same/matching chandelier. Just missing the window.

Is the flooring underneath the rug hardwood, painted white?

The floors are heart pine with a thinned out gesso finish. You could also use a light gray stain to achieve a similar color.
