Removing old thin-set from subfloor

I used a chipping hammer to remove tile. It worked great. However, there is significant thin-set still stuck on the wood subfloor. Far too much and stuck too hard to remove by hand (500 sw ft). People have mentioned a walk-behind concrete grinder. Would that work? I’m afraid they thought it was on slab concrete and not a wood-subfloor. Thoughts?

Yeah, as Sophie states, plywood will get wrecked and is too inexpensive to spend weeks attempting to clean it properly.

Don't waste time with scraping/chisels/flat bars. Best and easiest way is to use diamond cup wheel + dust shroud + angle grinder. Clean, easy, fast

Home Depot rents a tool specifically made for this. It’s like a big rotary sander with diamond tipped grinding plates.
