Slipcovered sofas

Should I buy a slipcoverd sofa that is dry clean only or machine washable? I'm concerned that a machine washable fabric will shrink - especially if cotton.

    Buy machine washable if possible, especially if you have pets or kids. I have a crate & barrel slipcovered chair (the Willow) and I love being able to wash it. The fabric was pre-washed and it doesn't shrink.

    Most fabrics which are tagged as machine washable shouldn't shrink as long as you follow the care instructions :) And pre-shrunk cottons are a good option too.
