living room decorating tips

hi all,

would love to pick you brain on completing my living room. this is what my living room look like right now.

i am adding a coffee table (white exterior powder blue interior) like this:

i wonder what is a good piece of furniture to put in the corner between the sofas. i thought about an end table of some sort, but it is likely going to be so low that it is blocked out of view by the sofas. i am thinking of getting a display shelf like this. The top of the shelf (black metal) is ~ 60 inch from the floor, about 2-3 inches tally than the cream floor lights shown here. is the shelf too short? should i pick something taller to create different visual heights? does this shelf fit the overall style of the living room? also, what do you think of the floor lights? do they belong here?

thx so much for your input!

I like that shelf and it's staggered effect, and I think the lights look okay too they help keep the space looking together. The room will also look more put together if you can group all the chairs on a nice big rug because the chair seems too far away right now and it looks like you have room for a couple end tables if you wanted. What sort of art ideas were you hoping for the wall behind the sofa?

I'd choose art for the long wall or a rug before anything else

Def you need a large rug and art or mirror on that back wall!

As an alternative for your walls, you might want to consider
something unique and easy to paint, personalize and install such as 3D wall
panels or skinny glass wall tiles that you can get really creative with https://www.houzz.com/projects/users/info959?lt=hl

BeverlyFLADeziner: Thx for your input. We definitely need artwork/3D wall panel for the back wall. I like your suggestion of a large plant on the corner between the sofas. I am thinking of a coffee table w/ rounded-edges to break up the boxy-square shapes of the sofas. As to a rug, we have severe allergies, so we prefer not to use a rug at all. I know it may create some design challenges. Would love to hear thoughts?
