We have two big empty walls next to our fireplace. Any ideas what we can do (other than a built in)?? Thank you!

    Looks like you need toy storage so closed cabinetry where it can all be hidden away would be a wise investment. Hang art above each one.

      If built in's are out - you can achieve the same feeling with tall freestanding shelving units. I would consider some with closed door storage below OR paint the walls an accent color (would recommend if I can see the kitchen) and install chunky wood shelves 3/4 of the way up and if possible add swing arm lamp sconces at the top. The lower shelves can house baskets for toy storage.

      Try cabinets on each side of the fireplace with art above each one. Perhaps something like this?

      Get some matching cabinet with doors or drawers for toy storage ( IKEA has inexpensive ones). Then add some nice big art above them and some lamps and plants on top.

      I would suggest having two credenzas or consoles on either side and art above each console.
