Brazilian Mahogany and Satinwood Kitchen in The Close, Salisbury

This is the original installation for this kitchen in The Main State Room at Dodington House, Dodington Park, Nr Bath. Tim Wood liaised with English Heritage on various areas of this house having found all the original sketches and drawing for it by it's architect James Wyatt RA (1746 - 1813). Tim Wood was involved in the reinstatement of this The Main State Room, from what had been converted by the Ministry of Works in the 1930's to two corridors and a rather monotone kitchen with a lowered ceiling. Soon after purchasing the property James and Deirdre Dyson kindly gave Tim Wood the kitchen back. Which was later reconfigured into the kitchen at The North Canonry, The Close, Salisbury. The kitchen is made from French polished Brazilian mahogany with satinwood, pommele douka and ebony stringing in the panels. The central island has a maple work surface to give a contrast to the darker woods underneath. The cupboards either side of the traditional cream Aga have granite worktops. All the drawers are made from Brazilian mahogany and hand dovetailed. All the knobs were specially made and are wedge fixed. As well as the kitchen we also designed and made a new panelled billiard room and the main bathroom, as well as restoring doors, other furniture and architectural details throughout the house.
