Hawthorne TileThis 1926 Portland home was in desperate need of restoration; especially the bathrooms. The homeowners’ desire was to stay true to the authentic tile colors, shapes and layouts that were popular in the Art Deco period of the late 1920’s and 1930’s. Unfortunately, none of the original tile was salvageable with the exception of several small, floral medallions. The original floral medallions became the inspiration for the cheerful blue and yellow master bathroom and were used as accents throughout the room. Hawthorne Tile worked with our partners at Pratt & Larson on this unique project.

The reason for the open plan was to maintain natural light throughout the attic. However, the bathroom was a challenge because it has privacy walls. Our designer opted to use continuous clerestory glass panels that wrap around the corner of the bathroom enclosure. These custom glass pieces allow light to flow from the dormers and skylight into the bathroom. The bathroom door is frosted to maintain privacy but also let in natural light.
The modern bathroom has a floating dark wood vanity that provides plenty of storage including a laundry basket. The toilet is in a separate room for privacy.

Michael James Design, Inc.The "Man's Lav" by Kohler provides an oversized sink for masculine appeal. The contemporary Kohler faucet coordinated with all of the shower components. Laying out the template for the vanity top, we were able to have the dark brown veins in the granite be positioned in the front of the top so it would coordinate with the rich brown color of the vanity.
Thomas Buckborough & AssociatesThis beautiful bathroom was created by rearranging two similar sized rooms into one large bath with a separate toilet space. Kohler electronic shower valves operated from key pads add some cool technology to the bathroom space. Very cool cabinetry, hardware, grid glass shower glass and soothing spa colors make this an awesome retreat for the Owners of this Concord MA farmhouse.

Gardner/Fox Associates, IncThis bathroom is as practical as it is eye catching. The double bowl vanity boosts the efficiency of the morning routine. Ample countertop space between the sinks translates into extra storage below. Grey wall tiles mixed with glass mosaic tiles create visual interest at the vanity & the spa like shower.

Alta MenteAfin de rester dans une ambiance exotique, le choix du mobilier de la salle de bain s’est porté sur d’un côté des meubles aux lignes épurées en teck huilé naturel (Line Art chez Richarson), de l’autre une coiffeuse en bois teinté noyer et sa chaise en tissu jaune (Jardin Pamplemousse). Chapeautant les deux vasques et la coiffeuse, deux élégants miroirs Adnet en cuir naturel (Gubi) se font face, sur fond de carrelage mural bleu lagon (Tonali, Acqua Chiara 10x30 S. Krakle) et joint jaune curry.

The large shower has fittings on opposite ends. It has marble walls and floors. Since marble is traditional material, our designer included horizontal bands of thin chrome trim to add a modern touch. Another modern touch? Ice blue glass tile accent. The long drain is modern, and is located to one side so it’s not underfoot.
