Landis Architects | BuildersThe owners of this stately Adams Morgan rowhouse wanted to reconfigure rooms on the two upper levels to create a primary suite on the third floor and a better layout for the second floor. Our crews fully gutted and reframed the floors and walls of the front rooms, taking the opportunity of open walls to increase energy-efficiency with spray foam insulation at exposed exterior walls.
The original third floor bedroom was open to the hallway and had an outdated, odd-shaped bathroom. We reframed the walls to create a suite with a master bedroom, closet and generous bath with a freestanding tub and shower. Double doors open from the bedroom to the closet, and another set of double doors lead to the bathroom. The classic black and white theme continues in this room. It has dark stained doors and trim, a black vanity with a marble top and honeycomb pattern black and white floor tile. A white soaking tub capped with an oversized chandelier sits under a window set with custom stained glass. The owners selected white subway tile for the vanity backsplash and shower walls. The shower walls and ceiling are tiled and matte black framed glass doors seal the shower so it can be used as a steam room. A pocket door with opaque glass separates the toilet from the main bath. The vanity mirrors were installed first, then our team set the tile around the mirrors. Gold light fixtures and hardware add the perfect polish to this black and white bath.

Arete Renovators Inc.This powder room underwent an amazing transformation. From mixed matched colors to a beautiful black and gold space, this bathroom is to die for. Inside is brand new floor tiles and wall paint along with an all new shower and floating vanity. The walls are covered in a snake skin like wall paper with black wainscoting to accent. A half way was added to conceal the toilet and create more privacy. Gold fixtures and a lovely gold chandelier light up the space perfectly.
Oxbow & Olin Design StudioModern and sleek bathroom with black, white and gray. Black shaker cabinets with ample drawer storage and full height linen. Tie-dye gray and black Noble Marble countertops add a boho touch to this modern bathroom. A bold and edgy wall mount faucet from Waterworks adds a modern touch. The shower has simple white ceramic subway tiles with a grid pattern and contrasting black grout, accented by a unique cross shaped shampoo niche. Black basalt chevron on the shower pan ties in the modern black, white and gray hexagon floor. Two round mirrors overlap for a designer look. This bathroom is finished off by knurled black CB2 hardware and 2 hanging pendants from Mitzi with gorgeous chrome dipped light bulbs.

Usable Space Interiors, LLCThe guest bath on the main floor received a complete refresh. With a new vanity, light fixture, tile and paint, USI was able to change the look of this bathroom completely. Contrasting colors resulted in this compact space appearing quite larger.

If visitors to Robyn and Allan Webb’s one-bedroom Miami apartment expect the typical all-white Miami aesthetic, they’ll be pleasantly surprised upon stepping inside. There, bold theatrical colors, like a black textured wallcovering and bright teal sofa, mix with funky patterns,
such as a black-and-white striped chair, to create a space that exudes charm. In fact, it’s the wife’s style that initially inspired the design for the home on the 20th floor of a Brickell Key high-rise. “As soon as I saw her with a green leather jacket draped across her shoulders, I knew we would be doing something chic that was nothing like the typical all- white modern Miami aesthetic,” says designer Maite Granda of Robyn’s ensemble the first time they met. The Webbs, who often vacation in Paris, also had a clear vision for their new Miami digs: They wanted it to exude their own modern interpretation of French decor.
“We wanted a home that was luxurious and beautiful,”
says Robyn, noting they were downsizing from a four-story residence in Alexandria, Virginia. “But it also had to be functional.”
