New Energy Works TimberframersThe broad stroke design of this home harkens to sap houses and agricultural structures of the Northeast which inspired the inclusion of a clerestory, cylindrical silo-like stairwell, and site-harvested stone. It was important for the family of five to have a central living space that felt settled and intimate while being able to host guests. The resulting 36’ x 36’ great room is characterized by its “circle in a square” frame that is the core to the overall basket-like structure. Lower volumes are created, and dimensionality is woven in with arched timber brackets and curving lines. The curves and arches were realized with a combination of double sawn solid timbers and grain-matched glulams

Historie des Projekts:
Die filigrane Stahlwangentreppe wurde aus statischen Gründen bei Neubau des Hauses mit Holzstufen ausgestattet. Schon nach kurzer Zeit zeigte sich der Verschleiß. Massive Steinstufen waren statisch nicht machbar. Mit unserem MEISTERTREPPE System konnte der Traum einer leisen, modernen und robusten Natursteintreppe sprichwörtlich leicht realisiert werden.

It was designed with an observatory tower built atop, and we had the opportunity to bring the architect's unique, artistic and cohesive design to life. We also provided the contractor with a satisfying building experience and a beautiful, safe and durable wooden spiral-treads system; fully customized white oak treads combine solid strength, a curved smooth look and clean look (white oak tread to metal structure connections). From the basement level to the second floor a large space and open feeling was accomplished with an attractive/supported straight stair system; all components (stringers, white oak treads, risers and handrail) were customized at our shop to satisfy required code and construction details. Bishop WoodcraftThese rounded, twisted, and scroll balusters all work perfectly together and are a classy addition to this home in Draper, Utah! With its traditional style yet graceful design, this wall mounted circular staircase is classic and timeless. The large Mahogany handrail, stringers, and curbing, paired with stone treads and risers exude elegance. The steel newels and balusters were all hand painted and then mortised down into the stringers and up into the rail.
