or this new kitchen in Stonegate, the brief was to create a clean, fresh, family kitchen incorporating warm woody tones and modern handle-less furniture.
The kitchen area forms one end of an open plan living space and it was always important that the space would work as one fluid area. The kitchen needed to perform efficiently and provide all the necessary storage, refrigeration and cooking functionality you would expect in 21st century kitchen, without dominating the space.The island forms the centre piece of the kitchen, sized and shaped to be big enough for breakfast-on-the-go whilst not being so big as to dominate the room. Positioning the induction hob on the island ensures that cooking is a truly social experience. The bank of tall units house the built-in refrigeration along with a large larder cupboard. Cleverly concealed behind the lacquered handle-less fronts are a range of storage options, the usual drawers and cupboards are complemented by a built in waste system and an under-counter wine cooler.
To maximise the feeling of space a simple open shelf completes the kitchen. The concealed fixings and integrated lighting make something really simple, really effective.It’s always a great feeling when our customers are happy, not only with the kitchen we have installed but with the kitchen we designed. We often like to go back a month or two after the kitchen has been installed to see how things have worked out, apart from seeing the kitchen in action it’s also how we keep improving as designers. It’s our chance to see what’s worked and inevitably sometimes we see things that haven’t quite worked out as we intended. In this case, the kitchen has proved to be a great success. One of the great things is that it provides a wonderful back drop to a busy, vibrant family life. It has been beautifully accessorized to make it truly individual and unique to the family that use it.
