Manzanita Residence, YamaMar Design
When the owners of this Marina-style home in Laurel Heights approached YamaMar Design about a remodel, they wanted to focus the first phase of the design effort on the interior of the main living floor, which was poorly laid out and very dark. The two big priorities were increased natural light and improved flow between kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Central to the design are two large custom skylights above the kitchen island and stair. The redesign includes a new entry foyer, powder room, first floor laundry/mud room, and an expanded master bath. YamaMar worked closely with the owner (an interior designer with a growing practice) to pull together a new palette of materials. The result is an airy, light filled space which is luxurious, relaxing and calm, even on the foggiest of days.
