Open and Inviting Kitchen, Cary NC
Irene and Lee had been living in their Cary NC home for over 20 years, and decided that they would continue to live there for many more years. Their original Kitchen layout was confining and cramped, which also made the adjoining Breakfast Nook confining and cramped. The dark cabinets and small window over the sink added to the confining feeling. Their Kitchen had to be renovated to make their home more comfortable and compatible with their changing lifestyle.
Our solution was to brighten and enliven the Kitchen and reconfigure the cabinets and the adjoining Breakfast Nook to create a more open and inviting space. We also installed a larger window over the sink and reconfigured the lighting to make every feature of the Kitchen usable.
We started with painted white wood cabinets with a glazed finish, added updated and resized stainless steel appliances, and integrated the Breakfast Nook table into the new Kitchen Island. The beautiful granite countertops contained a generous portion of “movement” and interest in the stone, and added a complimentary “zing” to white cabinets and cream tile backplashes. The basket weave marble center piece over the cook top tied in with all the design elements and provided an extra “wow” factor to the feel of the Kitchen. We finished everything off by adding hardwood flooring to the Kitchen, Breakfast Nook, and Hallway, creating a seamless hardwood flooring solution for the entire first floor of the home that were expertly refinished to rejuvenate all of the downstairs living spaces.
