Enlargement of two cramped and poorly lit bedrooms, retaining good storage.
A grade 2 listed semi-detached house in a conservation area. The uppermost rooms had low ceilings and high windows. The exterior of the property was in need of extensive repair. Acoustics were important, in close proximity to busy public buildings.
We added large dormer windows front and back, keeping frame sizes to a minimum to enable views out. The flat lead roof was fully refurbished to raise internal head heights and insulation. A new rooflight increased light to the circulation areas. We kept tall cupboards uniform between rooms and hall to tie the spaces together and kept eaves storage unobtrusive to maximise all available space and blend into the background.
