Bright bright walls and ceiling keep this room feeling not very dark. Grey sofa would be good with kids too.
This floor is lovely. The chair in the back is a great fabric -- also seems it would hide dirt! :)
These floors are quite dark, and they don't shed much light. Maybe I would be okay with dark floors if they were a bit more glossy.
