This is what I see looking back up at the house....taking up all the grade drop there, and having steps coming down into the seating area with the pergola which is roughly at the same level as the grass and fire pit area. Love the built-in seat wall with wooden bench - this can go along the under 3' retaining wall along the fence line at the pergola.

Assuming their retaining wall is our fence, this is what I have in my mind that I would like to see with our grassy area. The little deck on the right side of the photo represents the raised area under our deck. Leaving all the grass and the fire pit area at the same grade
