I think the counter top for the island just came from a sheet metal fabricator here in town. Most sheet metal companies should be able to make a counter top to your specifications. The wording on our spec sheet is, 'stainless steel with flat stainless edge over wood core'. See 'under construction' photo below to see what it looked like before the counter was put on it.
