Headed by Architect Ricardo Alvarez-Diaz and Interior Designer, Cristina Villalon, Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon® has a commonality of purpose in all of their work: to translate a client’s individuality into impeccable world class design. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1995, Alvarez-Diaz began his career working for renowned Architect Robert A.M. Stern in New York City, designing houses for celebrity clients. After completing her bachelor's degree in Art History at Pitzer College in Claremont, CA, Cristina went on to complete a Master of Science degree in Interior Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After collaborating successfully for many years, the married duo decided to merge efforts to create a full-service firm in order to better serve their wide-ranging clientele. With over 50+ years of combined experience, their team of architects and designers is well versed in any project type and size. Their approach is holistic, environmentally-responsible and customer-centric. Every client has a story to tell. Alvarez-Diaz designed my house, hired, managed and supervised a team of engineers and contractors who built my house ($1-2M) in the mountains of PR, and Villalon was my interior designer. They were also in charge of permitting, not an easy task in PR. Not many people are aware of the complexities of permitting in the bizarre and bureaucratic world of PR gov't. agencies, and finding someone who masters its complexities is essential to the success of any project. They're professionals and artists in the truest sense of the word. But what's more important, they have this ability to translate your wishes and dreams into their designs, while veering you away from things that don't make aesthetic sense or are just plain foolish from an economic perspective. The best evidence that I made the right decision when I hired them is that my kids (teenagers) want to stay home with their friends and enjoy the house.

We met with Christina and Ricardo in September 2013 and immediately knew we found the right team for our remodel in Ocean Park. We contracted a complete renovation inside and out including landscaping and a redesign and rebuild of the outside enclosure. Since this is our vacation home, we were working with them mostly from Boston and they were always available whenever we came down for a visit. The whole team is to be applauded as they did all the design work and oversaw the whole project while working admirably with our contractor. We are thrilled with our new home and our relationship with The Alvarez-Diaz & Villalon Team.

I hired this company for a full design of my house, which was going to be built in an empty land lot. In terms of the designing process, it was methodical, organised and well balanced between me and my wife's preferences but including expert knowledge and recommendations from ADV. In terms of final design papers, as per my contractor, they were the best his ever seen - detailed, precise and well documented. As a whole working with ADV in the design of our first house, was truly a great experience and the results were excellent.
